The UNC Kenan-Flagler Veterans Association (KFVA) exists to support and enhance the transition process our military veterans and our active duty service members returning post-graduation.  We support every phase of the transition process—from recruitment, matriculation, academics, networking, and integration with our non-military classmates to provide a platform for understanding, shared knowledge, and camaraderie.

Michael BurrisMichael Burris - President

Michael is a native of Charleston, SC and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from The Citadel, where he graduated with the class of 2010. After graduation, Michael spent 7 years as a Naval Officer and achieved qualifications as both a Surface Warfare and Tactical Small Craft Officer. He did three depolyments: two to the Middle East and Africa while serving on the U.S.S. GETTYSBURG (CG 64) as the Gunnery and Boarding Officer and one in Africa with EOD Mobile Unit One as the OIC of their Special Boat Team. He is a Real Estate Development Concentrator and will be interning at Trammell Crow Residential in Atlanta this summer. Contact:  Michael_Burris@kenan-flagler.unc.edu

Michelle KimbroughMichelle Kimbrough - Executive VP

Michelle was born in Colorado Springs, CO, but has lived all over the world. She spent over 7 years serving as a logistics officer in the United States Army under the Special Operations Command and the 101st Airborne, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She graduated from West Point in 2009, with a B.S. in Spanish and German and a minor in Environmental Engineering. At Kenan-Flagler Michelle plans to pursue a career marketing with a focus in the technology industry. She is also a Consortium Fellow, President of the Alliance for Minority Business Students and Executive Vice President of the Veterans Association. Contact:  michelle_kimbrough@kenan-flagler.unc.edu

Edwin RiddleEdwin Riddle - VP of Finance

Edwin served ten years in the U.S. Navy as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer deploying numerous times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and contingency operations in Europe. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2006 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Edwin will be interning with J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Denver, Colorado this summer. Charlotte BurnettCharlotte Burnett - VP of Communications

Charlotte (Charlie) joined the class of 2019 after spending the last several years working in the United States Army Special Operations Command. Charlie graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 and commissioned as an officer into the US Army. Charlie has worked with Babykixx and Hatteras Venture Partners throughout her first year. She is pursuing an MBA in Capital Markets & Investments and is spending the summer at JP Morgan. Contact:  charlotte_burnett@kenan-flagler.unc.edu'

Scott DotsonScott Dotson - VP of Recruiting

Scott is originally from Southwest Florida, and is currently an Active Duty Army officer concentrating in Investment Management and Capital Markets. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Political Science. Scott has served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army since 1999. He has deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle with Third Fleet and Operation Iraqi Freedom with 5th Fleet, and completed two combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with 10th Mountain Division. He most recently held command and operations positions in the European theater with 2d Cavalry Regiment and 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. Adam TucciAdam Tucci - VP of Corporate Relations

Adam Tucci received a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida in 2005. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force. He attended flight school and became an HH-60G Pavehawk Combat Rescue pilot. While stationed in Georgia, Alabama, New Mexico, and California, he deployed numerous times in support of multiple operations to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and Europe. After leaving military service in 2017, he enrolled at Kenan-Flagler Business School with the intention of transitioning to a career in consulting and entrepreneurship. Bailey WhitakerBailey Whitaker - VP of Learning & Development

Bailey joined the class of 2019 after spending the past five years serving as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Bailey graduated from the Naval Academy in 2012 with a B.S. in Naval Architecture. He served with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines out of Twentynine Palms, California and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. Bailey is concentrating in Management Consulting and will be working as a consultant for the National Park Service this summer. Contact:  philip_whitaker@kenan-flagler.unc.edu

Katie LayKatie Lay - VP of Community Outreach

After 5 years working in Boeing's Military Division, Katie Lay joined the class of 2019. Katie graduated from The King's College in NYC and worked in defense contracts, people analytics, and manufacturing finance in Philly, Chicago, and DC. She is concentrating in Data Analytics and will be at Dell this summer. Contact:  katie_lay@kenan-flagler.unc.edu

Jay O'NealJay O'Neal - VP of Alumni Relations

Jay O’Neal grew up in Havelock, North Carolina and received his bachelors of science in aerospace engineering from North Carolina State University. Jay served in the Marine Corps, as a tank crewman and aviation supply officer. He also worked as a district manager for Starbucks and logistics manager for Target before starting his MBA. He is concentrating in Corporate Finance and Capital Markets and Investments. Jay will be interning at Wells Fargo Securities as an investment banking summer associate, covering consumer and retail. Tyler EureTyler Eure - VP of Social Affairs

Tyler Eure is a Charlottesville native and Wake Forest University alumnus. Tyler joins the KFVA as the proud grandson of two Navy veterans and is excited to help drive our initiatives to promote the Veteran Association and build stronger relationships with our allies. Tyler will be spending the summer as an investment banking associate with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Charlotte, NC. Contact:  tyler_eure@kenan-flagler.unc.edu
