Classes designed for working professionals
We offer one program start a year, with orientation in September (shared with your Evening Executive MBA peers) and classes beginning in October.
During the first year you’ll take core courses that meet on Monday evenings, alternating with some Friday classes featuring Executive Lunches that bring in expert speakers and business leaders.
- Mondays (7 per term): 5:30 p.m. – 9:50 p.m.
- Executive Fridays (3 per term): 12 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.

Charlotte Executive MBA courses are taught in a format that blends in-person and online coursework. This structure allows you to gain familiarity with content and concepts before class, maximizing the opportunity for discussion and reinforcing real-world application during class meetings.
During your second year, you’ll have access to many electives to customize your MBA and target the skills you need to achieve your career objectives. Charlotte Executive MBA electives meet either Monday or one other weeknight. You’ll also have the option of choosing electives from one of our other MBA program formats (offered on a space-available basis), and participating in global immersions and experiential learning practicums. Elective courses comprise a significant portion of your total program credit hours—nearly 40%—which is unique compared to other MBA programs.
Orientation and Impact Weekends
Throughout the program, you’ll participate in several dynamic, immersive learning and networking experiences with peers from our other Executive MBA formats.
Before the start of the program, Charlotte Executive MBA and Evening Executive MBA students come together in Chapel Hill for orientation. During this three-day weekend, you’ll participate in engaging networking opportunities, get an introduction to the Executive MBA experience, curriculum, and staff, and participate in pre-MBA programming that will set you up for success in your first term.
After that, all Executive MBA students come together twice during the program for Impact Weekends, where you’ll collaborate with peers during an inspiring weekend of classes, workshops and social activities. These required courses are held over a three-day weekend, and are offered alternately between Chapel Hill and Charlotte, NC (we recommend you complete them in your first year). During Impact Weekends, you’ll hear from area executives, engage with local employers, participate in specially designed career and leadership programming, and network with peers and UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni.
