The UNC Kenan-Flagler Master of Science in Management (MSM) is a 10-month, full-time, 30-credit master’s degree for recent graduates with little or no full-time work experience. Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, it builds business fundamentals in finance, marketing, operations, analytics, and communication on top of any undergraduate major, with a concentration in Finance or Marketing and a real-world capstone.

Who is the MSM for?

The MSM is designed for recent graduates and early-career candidates with little or no full-time work experience, including students from non-business majors. If you studied a field outside business and want to add finance, marketing, analytics, and leadership skills before entering the workforce, the program builds those fundamentals on top of your undergraduate degree.

MSM curriculum: finance and marketing concentrations

The MSM curriculum opens with core coursework across accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations, organizational behavior, strategy, and business communication, then lets you choose a concentration in Finance or Marketing to focus your electives around the career path you want. Every student completes a real-world capstone project, working directly with a non-profit, government agency, or small company to solve a live business problem, building the leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and executive-presentation skills employers look for.
