We have delayed the official start of the Full-Time MBA program to August 31 and have extended the Round 4 deadline through July 13. GMAT/GRE waivers are available for new applicants by request. See our COVID-19 admissions status page for more information on admissions for fall 2020 entry.
Note: We have temporarily cancelled all in-person events and transitioned many to an online webinar format, including admission interviews, which will be held via Skype or videoconference.
The admissions interview helps us get to know you and is an important and required part of our holistic application review process. The interview also helps you get to know us and gives you an excellent opportunity to learn more about our program, culture, and student experience.
Your interview will be conducted by a member of the Admissions Team who will have access your résumé, but not your full application. Most interviews last about 30 minutes and typically have a conversational tone.
Candidates have two options to select from:
Campus Open Interview Season
You may self-register for an on-campus interview during the Campus Open Interview Season in September and October.
Invitation-Only Interview Season
Be considered by our admissions committee for an interview during our Invitation-Only Interview Season after submitting an MBA application.
If you are interested in visiting the campus without a scheduled interview, we welcome you to participate in our Campus Visit Program, which is available on select Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the academic year. In addition, we host several special events on campus throughout the year, including Open Houses and our Women’s Workshop that potentially offer interviews on non-campus visit days.
If you’re applying to UNC Kenan-Flagler, please consider completing your admissions interview on campus during our Campus Open Interview Season, which runs from September to October.
Register now with our campus open interview scheduler.
You may register for an interview without an application, however you must start your application before the date of your appointment. An application start only requires selecting an application round; you don’t need to fill out the application further at that point.
Campus Open Interviews are offered on a space-available basis on selected Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Advanced registration is required, a minimum of nine days before the date you’d like to interview.
Important: If you will be applying through The Consortium, please start your Consortium application and select UNC as one of your schools. Please do not start a separate UNC Kenan-Flagler application.
Invitations are extended to selected candidates via e-mail. Those invited to interview will receive specific instructions for how to schedule an interview on campus or via webcam.
There isn’t a specific interview notification date. You may receive an invitation to interview via e-mail at any time after you submit your application, up until the day of the admissions decision release. For more information, review our requirements and deadlines.
If you don’t receive an invitation to interview by the decision release date, your admissions decision will be either “deny” or “waitlist.” If you accept a waitlist offer and have not been interviewed, you’ll be invited to do so prior to the next round’s decision release date (or after the Round 4 decision release date for Round 4 applicants).
U.S. and international candidates are encouraged to interview on campus, if possible. Our Campus Visit Program, offered in conjunction with most campus interviews, is an excellent introduction to life as a UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA student. We understand that travel to campus will not be feasible for everyone so there is no penalty for choosing a webcam or off-campus interview. All interview types are weighed equally by the Admissions Committee.
We encourage Consortium applicants to take advantage of the Open Interview Season.
Important note: To be eligible for an interview, you will need to start your application through The Consortium and select UNC Kenan-Flagler as one of your schools; please do not start a separate UNC Kenan-Flagler application.
Admissions interviews provide additional insight into your candidacy and help us evaluate your fit for our rigorous academic program and collaborative, team-based culture.
