MBA Interviews & Campus Visits

Visiting UNC Kenan-Flagler

The 2019-2020 campus visit program resumes in early September 2019. Register now using our campus open interview scheduler!

If you’re interested in the Kenan-Flagler MBA Program, we encourage you to visit our Chapel Hill, North Carolina campus where you can:

  • Join a group of MBA students for lunch and learn from them what the program is like.
  • Tour the McColl Building, the home base for UNC Kenan-Flagler’s MBA Program.
  • Meet a member of the Admissions Committee and attend an admissions information session.
  • Attend an MBA class.

You can visit with or without a scheduled interview. We welcome visitors to participate in our Campus Visit Program on select Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the academic year, from early September through mid-April. Your spouse or partner is welcome to visit campus with you. Class visits are limited to prospective students due to space constraints, but spouses and partners are welcome in the other activities.

You may also want to contact one of our MBA Ambassadors prior to your visit. In addition to the Campus Visit Program, we host several special events on campus throughout the year, including Open Houses and Women’s Workshop. Check our Admissions Events calendar for dates and registration information.

Admissions Interviews

Admissions interviews help us get to know you and are an important part of our holistic application review process. An interview is required to be accepted to the MBA program.

Candidates may self-register for an on-campus interview during the Campus Open Interview Season, or be considered by our admissions committee for an interview during our Invitation-Only Interview Season after submitting an MBA Program application.

You are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Campus Open Interview Season since this is the only way to guarantee the required interview. Your interview will be conducted by a member of the Admissions Team who will have access your résumé, but not your full application. Most interviews last about 30 minutes and typically have a conversational tone.

Campus Open Interview Season

Sept. 12 to Oct. 31, 2019: Registration will be available on Monday, August 19, 2019. Please check back to schedule your campus visit.

Register now with our campus open interview scheduler.

If you’re considering UNC Kenan-Flagler, please consider completing your admissions interview on campus during our Campus Open Interview Season.

You may register for an interview without an application, however you must start your application before the date of your appointment. An application start only requires selecting an application round; you don’t need to fill out the application further at that point.

Important note: if you will be applying through The Consortium, please start your Consortium application and select UNC as one of your schools. Please do not start a separate UNC Kenan-Flagler application.

Interviews are offered on selected Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, on a space-available basis, during Campus Open Interview Season. Advanced registration is required, a minimum of nine days before the date you’d like to interview.

Invitation-Only Interview Season

After Oct. 31, 2019

Once the Campus Open Interview Season ends or reaches capacity, all further interviews are by invitation only. Invitations are extended to selected candidates via e-mail. Those invited to interview will receive specific instructions for how to schedule an interview on campus, via webcam or with an alumnus (in select locations outside the United States).

  • There isn’t a specific interview notification date. You may receive an invitation to interview via e-mail at any time after you submit your application, up until the day of the admissions decision release See our requirements and deadlines.
  • If you don’t receive an invitation to interview by the decision release date, your admissions decision will be either “deny” or “waitlist.” If you accept a waitlist offer and have not been interviewed, you’ll be invited to do so prior to the next round’s decision release date (or after the Round 4 decision release date for Round 4 applicants).

U.S. and international candidates are encouraged to interview on campus if possible. Our Campus Visit Program, offered in conjunction with most campus interviews, is an excellent introduction to life as a UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA student. We understand that travel to campus will not be feasible for everyone so there is no penalty for choosing a webcam or off-campus interview. All interview types are weighed equally by the Admissions Committee.

The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Applicants

We encourage Consortium applicants to take advantage of the Open Interview Season.

Important note: To be eligible for an interview, please start your application through The Consortium and select UNC Kenan-Flagler as one of your schools; please do not start a separate UNC Kenan-Flagler application.

Interview Tips

  • Our admissions interviews provide additional insight into your candidacy and help us evaluate your fit for our rigorous academic program and collaborative, team-based culture. During the interview, we don’t want you to repeat the detailed information collected in the application. While we want to know more about your professional strengths, accomplishments and goals, we are just as interested in your passions, personality, communication skills, what drives you, and the life experiences leading you to pursue an MBA.
  • Your interviewer will try to leave a few minutes for questions at the end of the interview. The best way for you to use this time is by reviewing our website to learn more about the components of the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA program that interest you. You should explore our various concentrationsstudent clubsexperiential learning opportunities and global programs. If you have additional questions after your interview, please contact the admissions team at
  • Candidates interviewing off-campus with an alumnus or member of the Admissions Team should bring a copy of their résumé. If you are interviewing on campus, you don’t need to bring anything with you; we’ll have a copy of your résumé on hand.
  • Business professional attire is recommended for all interviews.
