UNC Investment Management Club (for MBA students)

The UNC Investment Management Club serves MBA students passionate about investing and interested in pursuing a career in investment management.

Our club is focused on:

  • Developing students into leading investment management professionals, by providing training and recruiting support
  • Promoting and growing the investment management network at UNC by fostering relationships between students, alumni and enhancing relationships with investment management firms
  • Attracting top-tier investment management talent to the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Program

Investment Management Club members are passionate about pursuing a career in the industry. UNC Kenan-Flagler has one of the leading alumni networks in the investment management industry. Our industry partnerships and alumni provide students with networking and career building initiatives in addition to learning opportunities. Our key offerings include weekly club meetings (known as CareerLabs), the Fall career trek to New York City, Boston and Chicago, guest speaker events as well as collaborating on the Alpha Challenge and student-managed funds.

Investment Management is defined as any role that involves investment management of financial assets for institutions or its clients. Roles include but not limited to: Buy-side and sell-side research, private equity, private wealth management, sales and trading, asset allocator roles, and investment consultant roles.

Quincy Field

President

Quincy Field

Quincy Field is President of the Investment Management Club and a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Global Perspectives Fund at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Before graduate school, Quincy served as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Army. In the spring of 2022, Quincy interned with CJS Securities in preparation for spending his summer at William Blair in Chicago, IL, where he worked as an Equity Research Associate on the US Small Cap Industrials team. He attained his BS from Eastern Michigan University and is originally from Ypsilanti, MI.

Joseph Alp

Executive Vice President

Joseph Alp

Joseph Alp is the Executive Vice President of the Kenan-Flagler Investment Management Club and Co-Portfolio Manager for the Global Perspectives Fund. He is also the Vice President of Allyship at the Kenan-Flagler Pride Club and was an equities finalist at the 2021 Alpha Challenge.

Most recently, Joseph worked as a Summer Equity Research Associate with William Blair’s U.S. SMID Cap Consumer Growth team. In the Spring of 2022, he was an Equity Researcher for JulzCo, a Chapel Hill healthcare investment firm. Prior to business school, Joseph was a Research Specialist at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, where he focused on healthcare finance and regulations. A first-generation American and college graduate, Joseph attained his B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Bates College.

 

Davis Morrison

Chair, Alpha Challenge

Davis Morrison

Davis Morrison is the Chair of the Alpha Challenge and Head of Risk Management for the Applied Investment Management class. His interests include fixed income and quantitative/factor investing. In Davis’s first year of his MBA, his team finished in 2nd place in the 2021 Alpha Challenge, pitching Domino’s Pizza.  As part of the Investment Management Practicum, Davis interned with Alpha Theory, a technology company that specializes in helping funds size their portfolios based on their best ideas. In Summer 2022 he interned with Unum, with a focus on investment grade and high yield credit research. Prior to returning to graduate school, Davis was a consultant at Accenture for 4 years and received a BBA in Finance from William and Mary, with a minor in Mathematics.

Brandon Frey

Vice President, Equity Research

Brandon Frey

Brandon Frey is VP of Equity for the Investment Management Club at the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School while pursuing an MBA, concentrating in Capital Markets and Investments and Corporate Finance.

Most recently, Mr. Frey completed a summer internship as an Investment Analyst at Desai Capital Management  after completing a spring internship at Ullico Inc. where he was responsible for the development of a high yield corporate bond strategy.

Prior to business school, Mr. Frey was a Senior Wealth Strategy Associate at UBS after previously serving as a Portfolio Management Associate in the Private Wealth Management division of Morgan Stanley where he was focused on the management and valuation of various global equity, fixed income, and option overlay strategies.

Mr. Frey holds a certification in Investment Banking from the Swiss Finance Academy and a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Christian University.

 

Logan Shim

Vice President, Credit Research

Logan Shim

Logan Shim is Co-VP of Fixed Income for the Investment Management Club at Kenan-Flagler Business School and is concentrating in Capital Markets and Investments. Prior to graduate school, Logan worked for Wellington Management in a Trade Operations role researching and mediating fixed income, equity, and FX trade discrepancies within Wellington’s global trading volume of $13T by interacting with over 1,500 brokers and 100 custodian banks. In Summer 2022, he is interning at Cambridge Associates in Boston, MA. He graduated from The University of Delaware with a BS in Finance and minors in International Business and Economics. Logan is originally from the island of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

London Stewart

Vice President, Credit Research & Vice President, Alternative Investments

London Stewart

London Stewart is a second year MBA candidate within the Kenan-Flagler Business School. Her concentration is Capital Markets and Investments with an enrichment in Entrepreneurship. During her second semester of business school, she interned at Virgo Investment Group, conducting market research on e-commerce and media companies. She also partnered with the healthcare portfolio companies to improve their operations and find cost-savings opportunities.  During the Summer of 2022, she interned at Progressive, focusing on commercial mortgage-backed securities and aggregate bonds.

Prior to business school, London spent over four years as a senior financial analyst at UnitedHealth Group and CVS Health. She has a bachelors degree in finance from Minnesota State University – Mankato.

 

Raider Keenan

Vice President, Private Wealth Management

Raider Keenan

Raider Keenan is the VP of Private Wealth Management for the Investment Management Club. He is also part of the financials and real estate research team for the Global Perspective Fund at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Before graduate school Raider was a wealth advisor at a boutique trust company in Colorado Springs managing business owners and family’s personal wealth. He attended undergraduate at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a degree in finance. During the summer of 2022 he interned at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Charlotte focusing on wealth planning, lending, banking, and investments for high net worth and ultra-high net worth business owners, top executives, and multigenerational wealth.

 

Tarek Oueidat

Vice President, Learning & Development and International Students

Tarek Oueidat

Tarek Oueidat is a transitioning Army Officer with ten years of leadership across functions and echelons in military, training, and academia. Tarek studied Military Sciences and Math at the Lebanese Military Academy, Finance at the Lebanese University, and Business Analytics at the American University of Beirut. He had exposure to the financial advisory field through a Tech-SME and Entrepreneurial capital raising initiative in Lebanon. He spent his 2022 summer internship at Amazon.

He is proud to be an international member of Kenan-Flagler’s family and looking forward to providing career orientation and learning assistance to his incoming IM club colleagues. Tarek is a Rappelling Master and enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and exploring with friends.

 

 

UNC Finance Society (for undergraduate students)

The UNC Finance Society (UFS) is the premier student financial services organization sponsored by the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. The UFS offers undergraduate students interested in finance unique opportunities to develop the tools and skills needed to become a competent professional in today’s rapidly changing financial environment. Along with participating in educational and networking activities, students manage two equity portfolios and the Reynolds Fund.
