The Center for Excellence in Investment Management’s Advisory Board is a group of UNC alumni and friends who support all facets of the Center. These leaders represent diverse experiences in the investment management industry and help shape the overall strategy and development of the Center.

Jim Jones, Chair

Jim Jones (MBA ’06) is partner and portfolio manager at William Blair. Since earning his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler, he has worked as an equity analyst with Federated Investors and served nearly 10 years as industrials analyst for William Blair before taking on the role of director of research. Since September 2019, he has been portfolio manager for William Blair’s mid-cap growth and small mid-gap growth strategies. As an MBA student, he founded the Alpha Challenge investment pitch competition. He has remained an active alumnus in the Alpha Challenge and also teaches the Fundamental Investing Practicum in the MBA Program.

Dan Draper

Dan Draper (MBA ’99) is Chief Executive Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P OJI), responsible for all aspects of the index business globally. S&P OJI is the world’s leading index provider and offers investment professionals around the world an array of products from core indices such as the S&P 500® to broad comprehensive benchmarks.

Before joining S&P OJI, Mr. Draper held asset management, wealth management, and investment banking leadership positions in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Jakarta with Invesco, Credit Suisse Asset Management, Lyxor Asset Management, iShares/Barclays Global Investors, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Salomon Brothers.

Mr. Draper earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charterholder and holds the Chartered Market Technician®, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, Certified Financial Planner®, and Chartered Financial Consultant® designations.

Mr. Draper is the Chairperson for the Index Industry Association and Trustee of the Committee for Economic Development (CED) of The Conference Board. He is a chartered director and fellow at the Institute of Directors in the UK and a board leadership fellow at the National Association of Corporate Directors in the U.S. In addition, he is a fellow of the 2017 class of the Aspen Institute Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
Mr. Draper serves as a board director for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Delta Dental of Virginia. He is a member of The Board of Advisors, Center for Excellence in Investment Management at UNC Kenan­Flagler Business School, as well as The Board of Advisors of the Boehly Center at the Mason School of the College of William & Mary.

Mr. Draper is executive sponsor of Black Organization for Leadership & Development (BOLD), an S&P Global people resource group, and recipient of the Male Ambassador Award from Women in Derivatives (WIND) in 2022.

Jennifer L. Foster

Jennifer L. Foster

Jennifer L. Foster is Co-Chief Investment Officer at Chilton Investment Company where she has worked for 25 years.  Jennifer joined Chilton as an equity analyst and later became Director of Research and then Portfolio Manager.  During her tenure at Chilton, Jennifer has served on the Board of Directors as well as the Executive, Responsible Investment, and Risk Committees.  Before Chilton, she worked at GE Capital as part of GE’s Financial Management Training program.  Jennifer graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English from Boston College and earned an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard Business School.  She currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, CT, and as a trustee for the Mather Homestead Foundation in Darien, CT.  Jennifer is married and has three children.

Jordan Peer Griffin

Jordan Peer Griffin

Prior to joining H.I.G., Jordan was at Blackstone’s credit business, GSO Capital Partners, focused on strategy and business development. Before joining GSO, Jordan worked in the leveraged finance and investment banking groups at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital. She began her career in asset management at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

Jordan received her B.A. in Public Policy from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) and her MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School where she was a Kenan-Flagler Fellow.

Brian Hogan

Brian Hogan (MBA ’90) is the retired head of Fidelity Investments’ investment solutions and innovation organization. He had a 27-year career at Fidelity starting in 1994. He held several analyst roles before becoming director of U.S. equity research, equity portfolio manager and global head of research. For nine years he was president of the equity and high yield group at Fidelity before assuming his final role as head of investment solutions and innovation. He has maintained strong ties to UNC Kenan-Flagler since completing his MBA.

Steph Jackson

Head of T. Rowe Price Investment Management

Steph Jackson

Steph Jackson (BSBA ’84) is the head of T. Rowe Price Investment Management. He is a member of the management committee and a member of the Black Leadership Council. He also is a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group Inc. His investment experience began in 1986, and he has been with T. Rowe Price since 2007, beginning as a portfolio specialist, supporting several U.S. small-cap and mid-cap strategies, in the U.S. equity division. After that, he was a director of equity research, leading the U.S. associate analyst team and the European equity research team in London. Most recently, he was the associate head of the U.S. equity division. He is a former member of the equity steering committee, international steering, equity research and risk management oversight committees. He also is the former chair of MOSAIC, which identifies issues and opportunities relevant to talent, business practices and culture in support of the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategy. Prior to T. Rowe Price, he was a senior portfolio manager and a managing director with Brown Capital Management, where he managed mid-cap and large-cap growth portfolios. He also was a growth portfolio manager and director of equity research with NCM Capital Management.

He graduated from the Undergraduate Business Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler. He was a Morehead Scholar at UNC. He earned his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School. He also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. He is a former member of the investment committee of the France-Merrick Foundation, a former executive board member of the Baltimore Community Foundation and a former board member of the Abell Foundation. He also was the chairman of the investment committee of the Gilman School and a member of the advisory board of Bridges.

Donald J. Kilbride

Donald J. Kilbride is a senior managing director, partner and equity portfolio manager at Wellington Management Company LLC. As an equity portfolio manager, he manages Wellington’s dividend growth approaches including the Vanguard Dividend Growth Fund. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2002, he was a senior investment analyst and director of non-technology research at Greenberg-Summit Partners. He was previously the director of U.S. equity research at The Boston Company Asset Management. He received his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and his BA from the College of the Holy Cross.

 

Ellyn V. Korzun

Ellyn V. Korzun

Ellyn V. Korzun is an investment management leader with significant experience in: investment performance; bond portfolio construction and management; investment strategy communications and thought leadership; and recruiting and talent development. At TIAA, she led a top-performing team investment team that delivered consistent track records of outperformance for $5+ billion in fixed income assets across multiple strategies during varied market environments. As Interim Chief Investment Officer for the Investment Management Group, she oversaw all investment-related activities and support functions; guided risk management as well as human capital considerations. She participated in TIAA’s Emerging Leaders Program for top enterprise talent, and was nominated as an inclusive leader.

Previously, Ellyn advised clients within Goldman Sachs’ Investment Management Division, including constructing and managing fixed income separate accounts for its Private Wealth  Management clientele.  As a Recruiting co-captain, she contributed meaningfully to hiring efforts over a decade.  Other prior roles included institutional fixed income sales at Credit Suisse First Boston and Chemical Securities.

She graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with an AB in Economics and Spanish and obtained an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.

Ellyn also formerly served as an Advisor in Residence at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, focused on career coaching, and participated in its AIM board.

Sherry Wallace

Sherry Wallace (BA ’82, MBA ’87) is executive director of engagement and inclusion at UNC Kenan-Flagler. She previously served as director of MBA Admissions at UNC Kenan-Flagler and executive director for Alumni Community. Prior to her distinguished career at UNC, she worked in consumer product marketing. She is co-founder of 100 Women at UNC Kenan-Flagler, which was created by alumnae to enlarge opportunities for women leaders.
