Our Inclusive Community

We know that the best ideas come from bringing different people and perspectives together. That’s why inclusion is at the heart of everything we do at UNC Kenan-Flagler — and it’s reflected in our core values, which shape our culture every day.

Our students come to Chapel Hill from all corners of the state, the country and the globe. They represent different cultures and different backgrounds. They’ve studied different subjects and have worked in different industries. They’ve lived different experiences and have unique opinions and aspirations.

We continuously work to build a community where everyone feels valued and finds a true sense of belonging. Our goal is to prepare you to be an ethical, inclusive leader who knows that welcoming all contributions and perspectives leads to stronger organizations and more impactful solutions.

Supporting your well-being

Thriving in business starts with thriving as a person. That’s why all Full-Time MBA students have access to a dedicated Wellness Coach for private one-on-one coaching across the eight dimensions of wellness — from stress management and time/energy management to physical health and goal setting. Whether you’re navigating recruiting season, a heavy course load, or simply the transition to a new community, coaching is a flexible, student-driven space built around what you need.

Our wellness support includes:

  • Wellness Coaching: Private 1:1 sessions tailored to your goals.
  • Community Groups: Programming that connects students around shared well-being.
  • Programs & Events: Workshops addressing the eight dimensions of wellness.
  • Campus Resources: Coordination and referrals to cross-campus support resources.

Before your MBA

Choosing an MBA program is a big decision — and we want you to feel confident it’s the right fit for who you are. Some events for prospective Full-Time MBA students include:

  • Inside UNC Kenan-Flagler: Explore our community and learn about the support and resources available to all students. This event is often held in conjunction with the annual Carolina Women in Business conference each fall.
  • Webinars and coffee chats: Connect with members of student-led career and diversity clubs.

In class

We provide you with the tools to effectively navigate your MBA experience while you uphold our core values and your responsibility to foster an inclusive, professional environment. You start developing your skill set during orientation and into the first year, taking courses such as Leading & Managing and Ethical Leadership.

When it comes time for electives, you continue developing your inclusive leadership approach with courses such as Women in Leadership, Leading Inclusive Organizations and Corporate Communication: Social Advocacy.

Beyond the classroom

Your learning is enriched through a variety of opportunities to get involved in our community, connect with business experts and participate in conferences and workshops.

Diversity flags
