Carolina Women in Business provides the women of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School with opportunities for career and personal development. Our mission is to create a welcoming community for Kenan-Flagler women to get the support, feedback, and resources they need to succeed both at UNC and in their post-MBA journeys.

Charlotte Burnett Charlotte Burnett - President 

Charlotte (Charlie) joined the class of 2019 after spending the last several years working in the United States Army Special Operations Command. Charlie graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 and commissioned as an officer into the US Army. Charlie has worked with Babykixx and Hatteras Venture Partners throughout her first year. She is pursuing an MBA in Capital Markets & Investments and is spending the summer at JP Morgan.

Mariana ThomasMariana Thomas - Executive Vice President L&D

Mariana was born in Auchi, Nigeria. She spent her childhood there and moved to India before eventually making the United States her home. Prior to business school, Mariana spent nearly a decade as a TV news reporter. Most recently she worked for the Disney owned and operated ABC station and covered stories across central California. Mariana will spend her summer interning in a brand management role at PepsiCo. She’s a proud mom of two kids and is passionate about equity in the workplace.

Indy StevensIndy Stevens - VP L&D

Indy comes to UNC Kenan-Flager after working for several years in sales analysis and operations for Carahsoft Technology Corporation, an Government IT Solutions Provider in the Washington, DC area. Indy is from Bethesda, MD and graduated in 2014 from the University of Virginia with a degree in mathematics. Indy is pursuing her MBA to pivot into the energy industry, with a focus on energy consulting, and is spending her summer as a consultant for ScottMadden.

Julie McAloonJulie McAloon - VP L&D

Julie joins the UNC Kenan-Flagler class of 2019 after spending the last few years working in education. After graduating from Boston College in 2011, Julie joined Teach for America and taught 7th grade English for two years. From there, she pursued a master's degree in Education Policy at the University of Pennsylvania and then worked for the New Jersey Department of Education. Julie is pursuing her MBA to transition to a career in marketing and is spending her summer at Johnson & Johnson.

Colleen Parra - Executive Vice President Conference Planning

Colleen is a class of 2019 MBA candidate concentrating in Corporate Finance and Real Estate. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Colleen spent five years working in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs. Most recently, she served as a Senior Associate in the Private Wealth Management division of Morgan Stanley. She graduated from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business in 2010 with a B.B.A. in Finance. This summer, Colleen will be joining the Investment Banking division of Wells Fargo Securities in New York.

Carly DavisCarly Davis - VP Conference Planning

Carly joins the UNC Kenan-Flagler class of 2019 after spending the last several years working in the areas of Accounting and Finance. A 2010 graduate of the University of Virginia, Carly most recently worked for RLJ Lodging Trust, a hotel real estate investment firm in Bethesda, MD. Carly is pursuing her MBA to further her career in real estate, and is spending her summer in investments at Welltower in NYC.

Jen Stutsman Jen Stutsman - VP Conference Planning

Jen is a Colorado native, but she has lived in over a dozen cities around the world. She started her career in public policy by working on political campaigns and serving in the Obama Administration as the press secretary at the Department of Energy. She has worked in positions across the public, private and non-profit sectors, including leading a global health technology company in Kenya, Maisha Meds, prior to graduate school. Jen is pursuing a dual degree with Kenan-Flagler and UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. She will spend this summer interning with GlaxoSmithKline in North Carolina as part of the company’s pharmaceutical leadership development program.

Funmi Omoliki

Funmi Omoliki - VP Conference Planning

Funmi joined the class of 2019 after five years working as an engineer and product marketer in Nigeria's burgeoning telecoms industry. Prior to her time in the industry, she obtained her Bachelor of Engineering degree from Covenant University, Nigeria. She will be spending the summer at Microsoft, in a marketing role. Funmi enjoys visiting friends, galleries and trying out new recipes. 



Yelin Jie Yelin Jie - VP Conference Planning

Influenced by her mom’s career as an obstetrician, Yelin developed great interest and curiosity in healthcare. Through six years of work experience in finance and operations at Johnson and Johnson, she enjoyed impacting people's lives in China through business. As a MBA student in class of 2019, she has gained both academic knowledge and hands-on experience in healthcare at Kenan-Flagler. Backed by her healthcare experience in the US and China, Yelin is pursuing a career to make larger and broader impact on healthcare business after MBA.



Angela GurtsishviliAngela Gurtsishvili - VP Finance

Angela Gurtsishvili is of Georgian-Russian origin. She holds a Masters in Finance from Plekhanov Academy of Economics in Moscow, Russia where she concentrated in Financial Mathematics. Angela spent the past 10 years working in Russia’s Sberbank as Derivatives Sales-Trader. In her role, she crafted, tailored and executed structured products for some of the firm’s top clients. She is passionate about crunching numbers, solving problems, analyzing strategies and extracting meaningful insights from diverse financial datasets. Angela looks forward to serving on CWIB’s leadership team to ensure the organization has a long lasting legacy.



Christine GourleyChristine Gourley - VP Corporate Relations

Christine joined the UNC Kenan-Flagler class of 2019 after spending 6 years in marketing and business development roles. Christine graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009 with majors in International Studies and Spanish. Most recently, Christine worked at LendingTree in Charlotte, NC. She plans to stay in marketing and will be interning at Dell Technologies in Austin, TX for the summer.



Kristen KhouryKristen Khoury - VP Communications

Kristen joins the UNC Kenan-Flagler class of 2019 after spending several years in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs for medical imaging devices at GE Healthcare. She graduated from the University of Miami in 2013 with a Masters and Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering. Kristen is pursuing an MBA to understand more about commercial roles in business, and explore startup companies and ventures. She will be spending the summer at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in a marketing role.



Katie Lay Katie Lay - VP Marketing

Katie joined the class of 2019 after spending the last five years working in the Military & Defense Division of Boeing. Katie graduated from The King's College NYC in 2012, and worked in defense contracts, people analytics, and manufacturing finance in Philly, Chicago, and DC. She is concentrating in Data Analytics and will be at Dell this summer.

Robyn MooreRobyn Moore - VP Social

Robyn is a class of 2019 MBA student focusing on Marketing and Finance at Kenan Flagler. Prior to business school, she worked in operations and marketing for a real estate firm in Washington, DC. She is looking forward to joining Johnson & Johnson for the summer in Brand Management. Robyn received a BA in Political Science and History from the University of Virginia. 



Michael GoodwinMichael Goodwin - VP Allies

Michael is a class of 2019 MBA candidate concentrating in Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Michael was a Commercial Underwriter at Capital One, N.A. based in McLean, VA. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a B.S. in Finance and in 2014 B.A. in Spanish. This summer, Michael will be joining the Leverage Finance Group of Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Charlotte, NC.

Taylor Bogart - VP Women's Initiatives

Taylor is a UNC Kenan-Flagler student in the Class of 2019 concentrating in Healthcare and Corporate Finance. She is a double Tar Heel, where she holds her B.S. in Health Policy and Management. Prior to business school, she worked at EY as a healthcare consultant. Taylor is pursuing her MBA to transition into a corporate finance role within the healthcare industry, and will be spending her summer in Finance at Cigna.



Elizabeth MerrittElizabeth Merritt - VP Alumni Relations

Elizabeth is pursuing a concentration in General Management. Before business school she worked in the North Carolina Governor's Office, as the legal aide to the General Counsel. She graduated from UNC in 2013 with degrees in Public Policy and Peace, War & Defense. This summer, she will be at Cigna in Hartford Connecticut.

Kati JacksonKati Jackson - VP Perspective Students

Kati is a class of 2019 dual-degree student at UNC Kenan-Flagler and Gillings School of Global Public Health. Prior to returning to UNC for graduate school, Kati taught English in Hanoi, Vietnam and worked in Washington, DC at an education based NGO. When not working or studying, Kati loves to travel, hike and spend time with her dog, Lucy.



Membership Benefits

Carolina Women in Business (CWIB) aims to further enhance each woman's business school experience by providing career-related and community-focused programming. Annually, the organization leverages its professional relationships with its corporate sponsors and alumnae to give current women the opportunity to network in a more intimate setting for internships and full-time jobs. The club also aims to foster solidarity among current women and alumnae.
