Our flexible curriculum delivers the skills today’s employers are seeking most, so you stand out during recruiting. Core coursework provides you with essential business knowledge, internship preparation, and a data, technology, and AI sequence that equips you with cutting-edge tools to analyze data, communicate insights, and navigate ethical decision-making in today’s tech-driven world.
In your second year, career tracks and concentrations build progressive expertise so you’re ready to solve complex, industry-relevant problems. With a focus on practical, hands-on learning that directly translates into your career after graduation, you’ll work with firms’ real data, participate in career practicums and industry seminars, and connect with thought leaders and networks that set you apart in the job market.
The Full-Time MBA is a 21-month program, beginning in the fall each year. Your 62 credit hours will be completed across core courses, electives, independent study projects and concentration courses.
Core classes are completed in your first year, building a strong foundational understanding of key business concepts. You’ll work across several disciplines, including finance, accounting, economics, data analytics, business strategy, operations, and marketing – and you’ll learn important soft skills in leadership, communications, and ethics.
Elective courses are designed so that you can tailor your MBA to focus on your specific career goals and add depth to your skillset in a particular discipline. These courses focus on the same disciplines for which we offer concentrations including data analysis, operations and marketing, as well as industry-specific topics in areas such as real estate, healthcare, energy and investment management.
Through concentrations and career pathways, you’ll develop specialized knowledge and get hands-on experience that aligns to your professional goals. Career pathways – a short, sequenced set of courses – are thoughtfully designed to build progressive knowledge and prepare you to solve complex problems in an industry-relevant context. You’ll also have access to a wide variety of electives to further personalize your MBA experience.
At UNC Kenan-Flagler, we understand that building a strong, supportive network is just as vital as mastering business fundamentals. During orientation, you’ll join a Legacy Group—a small, varied team within your larger cohort designed to enrich your academic and social experience. Through shared classes and collaborative projects with peers from different industries and backgrounds, you’ll create meaningful connections and gain new perspectives.
Outside the classroom, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in over 40 student-led clubs and organizations, giving you countless ways to explore career opportunities, expand your network and connect with others over shared interests.
