  • Overview

Kenan-Flagler Global Programs (KFBS semester exchanges, KFBS summer programs, and KFBS short-term immersions) are ONLY open to students who have been admitted to the major or minor Undergraduate Business Program. Pre-business students and non-business majors and minors are not eligible to apply to Kenan-Flagler Global Programs. Admission status to the Undergraduate Business Program will be verified for all applicants.

DO NOT apply directly to LSE Summer School via their website. Students MUST apply directly to Kenan-Flagler via the "Apply" tab.

The LSE Summer School has the world's largest intake of international study abroad undergraduates compared with other summer schools across the globe – the 2018 program brought in students from over 110 nationalities.

Kenan-Flagler students must enroll in two sessions at LSE, and take two courses. It is not possible to enroll in just one session and earn credit.

The Summer School curriculum is drawn from across the university, with courses being offered in subjects as diverse as Accounting, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Law, and Business and Management.

    Credit Information for KFBS Students

LSE offers courses in Finance and Business and Management that will count for Kenan-Flagler business credit.

The following three courses are approved for BUSI core credit for Summer 2019:

    MG106 for BUSI 411 (offered in Sessions 1 &3)
    FM250 for BUSI 408 (offered in Sessions 1 & 3)
    AC110 for BUSI 407 (offered in Sessions 1 & 3)

Business and Management courses (with the exception of MGs 101, 110, 130, 133, and 203) and all Finance courses are approved for BUSI elective credit for Summer 2019.

Most Kenan-Flagler students participate on this program in LSE sessions 1 and 2. Given that the courses approved for core credit do not have offerings in Session 2, most students will choose to take one course for core credit in Session 1, and a course within their interests for Session 2.

Courses taken at the LSE Summer School will transfer back to UNC Pass/Fail. Achieving a grade of 40 (out of 100) or above will transfer back to UNC as a pass course, which will not affect UNC GPA. Students who receive any grade under 40 will fail the course and an F grade will transfer back to UNC, which will affect their UNC GPA. Though transfer credit for this program is Pass/Fail, future employers and graduate schools will also look at the London School of Economics transcript, so grades are important.

Students participating on this program will transfer back 3 UNC credits per LSE course, and are expected to successfully complete two courses. A student who earns a 40 or above in all courses will receive a total of 6 UNC credits for their summer abroad. Full-time enrollment on this program is defined as 6 credit hours. This program also fulfills Experiential Education and you will earn points towards the Kenan-Flagler Inclusive Global Leadership graduation requirement.
