Undergraduate Business Admissions for High School Students

The Undergraduate Business Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler welcomes your interest!
We seek well-rounded, diverse students who are interested in pursuing a liberal-arts degree with an emphasis on the development of fundamental business skills. This page provides information on ways to apply to the program and answers to some common questions.

How to Apply to the Undergraduate Business Program

Typically, students apply to the Undergraduate Business Program after completing their first year at UNC. To learn more about that application process, you can visit the Current Student Admissions page.

Undergraduate Assured Admissions Program

UNC Kenan-Flagler selects a small group of high-achieving prospective students for assured admission to the undergraduate business major. The Assured Admission Program (AAP) is offered through the Excel @ Carolina Program.

Excel@Carolina nominees are selected for AAP through a comprehensive evaluation of their UNC Undergraduate Admissions application. You do not need to provide a supplemental application for AAP. Students are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Exemplary high school academic record
  • Significant extracurricular involvement
  • Demonstrated leadership

If you’re selected for the AAP you are not required to declare Business on your general application to UNC. Should your academic interests change, there is no obligation to pursue a business degree.

For Assured Admission Consideration:

  • Apply by the Early Action deadline
  • Select Assured Admission to Kenan-Flagler as an interest area within the Excel @ Carolina question in the UNC application.

If you are granted Assured Admission, you will need to meet the program requirements described below along with submitting a streamlined version of the normal application after your first year at UNC.

Program Requirements

In order to maintain assured admission status, students must:

  1. Maintain a 3.25 GPA in the first year at UNC.
  2. Make steady progress through the business pre-requisites.
  3. Complete two first-year seminar type business classes (BUSI 188 and BUSI 189).
