  • Overview

    Kenan-Flagler Global Programs (KFBS semester exchanges, KFBS summer programs, and KFBS short-term immersions) are ONLY open to students who have been admitted to the major or minor Undergraduate Business Program. Pre-business students and non-business majors and minors are not eligible to apply to Kenan-Flagler Global Programs. Admission status to the Undergraduate Business Program will be verified for all applicants.

    An international internship in Singapore offers students the opportunity to work and learn in a non-US environment. This summer experience helps students apply their classroom teachings to a work environment. Students participating in this program will gain first-hand knowledge of the behaviors, customs, and norms of another culture. Intern abroad – experience global business.

    Program participants will work in an internship for 8 weeks, from Monday – Friday weekly, for a total of approximately 320 contact hours.

    Internships for this program are arranged through Global Academic Ventures. Global Academic Ventures' internship services include:
    • Secure housing for the duration of the internship
    • Fully-trained local staff provided to manage on-site logistics, assist with on-site emergencies, and provide information as needed
    • Placement in a professional internship prior to departure
    • Professional resume revision
    • Interview preparation and coaching
    • Full day city sightseeing trip
    • Welcome dinner, periodic check in dinners with students, and farewell dinner

  • Program Terms and Dates

    Program dates are generally as follows: early June to early August

    ‚ÄčSummer 2019 dates are June 6, 2019 August 3, 2019

    The Singapore Internship Program runs from June 6 - August 3, 2019. Students will participate in orientation in Singapore from June 6-9. Participants begin their internships on June 10. The internship runs for 8 weeks.

    Application opens: November 1, 2018

    Round 1* Applicants:

    • Round 1 application deadline for Summer 2019: November 15, 2018
    • Notification for Round 1 applicants begins: December 14, 2018
    Round 2 Applicants:
    • Round 2 application deadline for Summer 2018: January 17, 2019
    • Notification for Round 2 applicants begins: February 1, 2019

    *Students who submit their application in the Round 1 application cycle have greater scholarship opportunities and increased chances of being accepted to their preferred program.

  • Academics

    Credit information for KFBS students

    Students who participate in the International Internship Program through UNC Kenan-Flagler, will be enrolled in BUSI 493Internship Credit course. This 3.0 business elective credit course includes submission of reflective activities assigned by UNC and a written evaluation from a supervisor which will be included as a component of the student's grade. In addition to earning business elective credit hours, this program also fulfills Experiential Education and you will earn points towards the Kenan-Flagler Global Inclusive Leadership Initiative.« PrevNext »
  • Program Provider

    Global Academic Ventures works to place students in internships in Singapore. Additionally, their fully-trained staff manages on-site logistics support, assists with on-site emergencies, and provides information as needed to participants.

    Global Academic Ventures also arranges social programs for interns. For example, at the beginning of the program students have the opportunity to enjoy a full day of sightseeing. Additionally, there are 3 group dinners and a farewell dinner offered for all interns. Program fees cover the cost of this programming.

  • Housing

    Global Academic Ventures arranges 8 weeks of accommodation in dorm type facilities. Students will be in shared accommodations. The cost of accommodation is included in the program fees.

    The opportunity to spend 8 weeks living and working in one of the most cosmopolitan and advanced cities in the world doesn't come along often. This program not only gives you the opportunity to work in a non-US environment, but it also will help you expand your network, since students from other universities across the US will also be participating. You will develop skills you can include on your resume and articulate in an interview during your future full time job searchyou will learn how to work in a diverse environment, adapt to change, have proven flexibility and mobility, integrate into a cross cultural team, and more!
