This GIE will focus on both tech and social entrepreneurship, including those social enterprises that are led by women as well as those that are doing good for the environment. Singapore is a fascinating location that has transformed from an undeveloped fishing village into a thriving city-state–with amazing growth in the past three decades. Singapore, known for having some of the cleanest streets in the world, features well-manicured and green public spaces. Students will explore current challenges as they relate sustainability and business growth to gain better insight on the long-term initiatives in the region as well as visit companies to learn about green energy and sustainable initiatives. Students will visit Sentosa Island and the Marina Bay area known for beautiful skyscrapers and its financial district as well as cultural enclaves such as Little India, Kampong Glam, Bugis, and Chinatown.
Students will also engage in a hands-on service-learning activity, working to contribute to the community of Singapore while learning about the challenges unique to the area.
Dr. Sharon Cannon, Clinical Professor of Management and Corporate Communication, will lead this program.
