This Global Immersion Elective (GIE) will inform your global business knowledge, expose you to issues of leadership and allow you to gain international experience—through immersion in London.
The UK follows Germany and France as the third-largest economy in Europe. It has long been a leading trading power and financial center, with the banking, insurance, and business service sectors driving the UK’s GDP growth. The UK was a prominent and active member of the EU from 1973 to 2016. The 2016 decision to leave the EU will take many years to unfold and will likely affect EU nations through the Brexit process. Companies on all sides are hesitant to speculate potential outcomes. This GIE will provide students with a chance to visit different companies and learn about the business sector in the UK and potential Brexit impacts.
During the program, students will have a chance to tour and explore various parts of London, day-trip to Oxford, and participate in a service-learning project.
Michael Penny, Associate Director of Student Engagement, and Anna Hayes, Associate Director of Global Programs, will co-teach this course.
