All UNC students selected for the GLOBE® program are awarded a total of $6,000 in scholarships to help offset the costs of participation. If admitted to the program, you will receive $3,000 for the Hong Kong spring semester and $3,000 for the Copenhagen fall semester.
The UNC Center for Global Initiatives manages a resource called EMBARK Carolina, which lists a variety of funding opportunities.
UNC tuition and fees are charged at the regular in-state or out-of-state rate for this exchange program. For the terms you are abroad, health insurance and a $700 Undergraduate Business Global Programs Administrative fee are billed through UNC.
The GLOBE® study trip fees, room, board, books, personal expenses and airfare are paid directly to the host university or independently.
Both UNC cashier-billed expenses and out-of-pocket expenses are associated with participation on this program. UNC tuition and fees, health insurance and the Global Programs Administrative fee are all billed through the UNC Cashier’s office. All other expenses are billed through the Copenhagen Business School, Chinese University of Hong Kong or paid as incurred (for things like personal items, books and supplies) and will depend on your personal situation and habits.
The GLOBE® Estimated Expenses shows semester-by-semester costs along with UNC tuition and fees for in-state or out-of-state students for the year abroad. This information is also available in an Excel spreadsheet.
