Please note that business course options are limited for FBAs. You will take two courses during the CUHK summer program, either two business electives or one business course & a course for another type of credit (General elective, general education, second major/minor). Some courses require prerequisites; check these requirements before enrolling. Please refer to the CUHK International Summer School website for course outlines.

CUHK has not yet finalized course offerings for Summer 2026, however, we have provided a list of pre-approved business courses based on previous summer terms. All courses listed below are approved for business elective credit, and each are worth 3 UNC credit hours. There may be a reduction in the total number of courses on offer for this upcoming summer term:

• MGNT2510: Introduction to International Business
• MGNT3580: Global Enterprise Management
• CCSS2450: Business and China

Courses taken at the Chinese University of Hong Kong will transfer back to UNC Pass (CUHK grade of C and above)/Fail (CUHK grade of C- and below). Pass grades do not affect your UNC GPA. Fail grades transfer back to UNC as Fs, which will affect your UNC GPA. Though transfer credit for this program is Pass/Fail, future employers and graduate schools will also look at the CUHK transcript, so grades are important.

You will transfer back 3 UNC credits for every 3-credit course at CUHK, and are expected to take two courses worth 3 credits each during the summer. If you pass both courses, you will earn a total of 6 UNC credits for your summer abroad. Full-time enrollment on this program is defined as 6 credit hours.

To ensure that your course selections transfer back to UNC, you are required to submit an official course transfer request to the Course Request Database as soon as you have access to your course syllabi in the summer. This applies to all courses for academic credit, including pre-approved courses. Our team will provide instructions and a link to the Course Request Database for enrolled students in the program.

This program also fulfills the High-Impact Experience requirement of the Ideas In Action curriculum.

Participants in the International Summer School live in on-campus residence halls at CUHK. The rooms are double occupancy. Meals are available in student cafeterias and canteens across campus.

Funding your global program

This program is eligible for the Phillips Ambassadors Scholarship (UNC-CH undergraduates only).

The Undergraduate Business Program offers both merit and financial-need-based scholarships to support our students who wish to study abroad.

• If you are applying for a Kenan-Flagler Global Programs Scholarship, please note that average merit scholarship amounts for this program range between $500-$1000.
• If you are applying for a financial-need scholarship, the specific scholarship amount will be determined by supplemental UNC Office of Scholarships and Student Aid information.

Study abroad scholarship applications are embedded in the global program application and award amounts will be communicated with program decisions.

Do you have a valid passport? If yes, check your passport’s expiration date to ensure that your passport is valid at least 6 months after your program’s scheduled end date. If not, you’ll need to submit a passport renewal application.

Do you need to apply for a passport (first time or renew)? If yes, we recommend that you get started on your passport application right away as you’ll need time to collect documents like your birth certificate to include as part of your application. For complete instructions click here.

Will I need immigration documents? Hong Kong only requires a visa if you plan to stay for more than 90 days. If you are accepted into this program, you will not be required to acquire a visa as your program is approximately 43 days in length.
