How to prepare a strong application
Taking the next step in your career journey can be both exciting and a little intimidating. We’re here to help ease some of the common stressors applicants face while preparing their materials. To get started, take a moment to review the application requirements so you know exactly what you’ll need before you begin.
Application Materials
✅ Transcripts: Share unofficial transcripts from every institution you attended, even for transfer, extension, or summer credits.
✅ Recommendations: Prioritize recommenders who know you well and have first-hand experience with your work ethic. Someone who can speak to your skills, initiative and drive.
✅ Essays: In two essays, describe your impact, ambitions, and why UNC Kenan-Flagler MAC fits your professional path.
✅ Resume: Your resume should outline your educational background and professional experience, highlighting key accomplishments and skills.

Arrange your work and education in reverse chronological order. This helps tell your overall story by connecting the steps you’ve taken to where you are today. |
| Resume bullets |
Use action-oriented verbs to demonstrate the impact you made. Structure your bullet points using an action–problem–result format to clearly communicate your achievem ents with the appropriate level of detail. |
| Detail your prior education | Provide your major, the dates you were in school, your GPA and any concentrations you pursued. |
| Explain the gaps |
If you’ve been out of school or not working for more than a year, explain this situation in an “Additional Information” section. |
| Be consistent and precise |
Make sure your format is consistent throughout the document. This demonstrates accuracy and precision, qualities employers value. |
