When it comes to getting a job, and building your career over time, there is nothing more important than the size and impact of your network. When you join the MAC Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler, our network becomes your network. Chances are that when you interview for jobs during our on-campus recruiting immersion, you’ll be speaking to many UNC alums. In fact, our network is so strong that LinkedIn ranked UNC as the best school for graduates seeking desirable accounting jobs.

The recruiting process: how you’ll get to work.
So how do you leverage your new network? We’re here to help. First, we’ll bring in representatives from numerous accounting firms and major corporations, including all of the Big 4. These companies, in turn, post job listings in a site exclusive to UNC MAC students, and then return to interview all interested candidates. The end result: job offers – in many cases, multiple job offers – to nearly every student in our program.

Employers, and the jobs they’re filling.
Once you meet the firms, you’ll soon realize that you are in serious demand. Whether you’re interested in tax accounting or auditing or corporate finance, the companies who recruit from our program are definitely interested in you. You’re not bound by geography either. Certainly, we have a strong foothold in the southeast – Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta – but we send numerous students each year to New York, Washington, and offices from coast to coast.

Opportunities for internships.
An internship is a great way to test the waters and a great way to lock in valuable connections. There are two ways that students in our program secure internships. For online students, it’s relatively easy as internships can worked into the course timeline. Students in the on-campus format need to plan in advance; they’ll need to complete some prerequisite coursework to free up time for a summer internship prior to starting in on the core curriculum.

Customized career coaching.
In some cases, our standard recruiting process doesn't precisely connect with our students' career goals. If you find yourself in this situation, you'll will work a career development coach who has significant experience working within the accounting and finance space. You and your coach will discuss your personal career development goals and identify actions needed to reach these goals. You’ll get specific feedback on resume building, interviewing, networking, and salary negotiation. Finally, you’ll be introduced to corporate recruiters and alumni who are ready to hire and ready to give you lucrative career advice.
