The mission of the Net Impact club is to build upon UNC Kenan-Flagler’s tradition of leadership in sustainable business practices by providing students with education, opportunity, and inspiration to drive social and environmental change.
Joanna Furgiuele - President
Joanna Furgiuele is a joint degree student pursuing her MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler and a Masters of Environmental Management at Duke. Originally from Yonkers, NY she moved west for college, graduating from the University of Montana with a degree in Biology. Prior to attending graduate school she managed educational programs for the non-profit organization Sierra Nevada Journeys in Reno, NV. She is excited to be learning and traveling through summer internships in Latin America, first in Guatemala and next in Peru. She loves dancing, hiking, eating, and spending time with friends.
Dario Kuperman - VP of Finance
Dario is originally from São Paulo, Brazil. He graduated with a degree in Economics and have more than 10 years of relevant work experience with global companies in Latin America, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Protiviti and OpenLink Financial. He is also passionate about combining sustainability and social responsibility with business to produce a positive impact. In his free time, he loves to play soccer, swim and play accoustic guitar and cavaquinho.
Taylor Mallard - VP of Communications
Taylor is a Philadelphia native that adventured south to UNC for both her undergraduate degree and now MBA. Between the two education inspired treks to the Old North State, Taylor joined two entrepreneurs in Montana starting an outdoor footwear company – Oboz Footwear. When not studying, Taylor enjoys spending time outside – trekking, climbing, biking & skiing, usually accompanied by her husband, John, and Border Collie, Skeeter.
Susan Sullivan - VP of Corporate Sponsorship
Susan is originally from St. Louis, MO and studied Economics at Cornell University. Prior to business school, she spent two years with a social media research and consulting joint venture in Manhattan, followed by a year serving as an Education Pioneers Analyst Fellow in Nashville, TN. Upon graduation from UNC Kenan-Flagler, Susan hopes to identify paths in the tech sector by which to contribute to the education reform and blended learning movements.
Mike Zeigler - VP of Learning & Development
Mike is originally from Washington state, and has spent the past decade in Seattle studying at the University of Washington and then consulting for Accenture. After graduating from UNC Kenan-Flagler, Mike hopes to be a brand or product manager in the outdoor consumer goods industry. In his free time Mike loves to cook, hunt, fish, and snowboard.
Julianne Stern - VP of University Relations
Julie is pursuing a joint MBA and Master of City and Regional Planning candidate at UNC, with a focus on community economic development. Before returning to grad school, Julie worked for a think tank in DC helping U.S. urban policy leaders adapt promising ideas implemented by their European counterparts. Originally from New Jersey, Julie studied History and Urban Studies at Stanford University, and spends her free time backpacking, knitting, and trying to finish the Sunday Times crossword.
Cindy Frantz - VP of Events
Cindy has worked in various non-profit organizations dealing with employment, education, and strategic philanthropy. Most recently, she served as the Communications Director at the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers. Upon graduation from Kenan-Flagler Business School, she hopes to bring a practical business acumen back to the philanthropic sector. Cindy went to the University of Colorado at Boulder as an undergraduate and enjoys hiking, triathlons, and all things outdoors during her free time.
Trang Phan - VP of Social Impact
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Trang graduated from Berry College in Rome, Gergia, with concentrations in accounting and finance. Her industry experiences include working for Georgia-Pacific as an accountant and at Habitat for Humanity International in various financial roles. Trang's passion is in the use of market-based principles to solve issues relating to poverty. She plans to use her talent and influence to empower other women to dream big.
Katie Bradshaw- VP of Environmental Sustainability
Katie is originally from Chapel Hill, NC and studied Earth Sciences concentrating in Ocean Sciences at Cornell University. Prior to returning to school she spent four years working at PG Environmental, LLC, a water resources consulting firm in Herndon, VA. In addition to receiving her MBA from Kenan-Flagler, Katie will also be receiving her Master of Environmental Management degree from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. Upon graduation, she hopes to use her two masters degrees working at the intersection of finance and water resources management.
Isaac Liberman-VP of Careers in Sustainability Forum
Isaac is a dual degree student pursuing a Master of Environmental Management at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment in addition to an MBA at Kenan-Flagler. Prior to attending graduate school, Isaac worked as a policy analyst at M.J. Bradley & Associates for four years, consulting a wide range of organizations on energy and environmental issues. At Kenan-Flagler, Isaac is concentrating in Corporate Finance. Isaac studied economics and psychology at Brandeis University. This summer, Isaac will be working in business management for NextEra Energy Resources in Juno Beach, Florida. Isaac is originally from the Boston, MA area and enjoys bowling and rooting for his hometown sports teams.
Elise Wagner - VP of Sustainable Venture Capital Investment Competition
Elise is originally from Claremont, CA and studied Anthropology and French at Mount Holyoke College. She has spent the past 3.5 years working in marketing and partnerships for TOMS, a company most known for pioneering the One for One business model. Prior to working at TOMS, Elise worked at a new media and documentary film organization and she taught English in the French Guiana.
Brianne Abramowicz- VP of Food Systems Conference
Following graduation from the University of Delaware, Brianne spent four months working as a consultant for an agriculture start-up in Mexico. She then worked for six years as a financial analyst for Bank of America wherein she gained a breadth of experience in post-merger integration, project management, and marketing strategy development. Brianne is passionate about the intersection of food and business. She returned for her MBA to find a position within a company that is pioneering innovations in supply and value chain systems.
The UNC Kenan-Flagler Net Impact Club is a Gold Chapter member of the worldwide Net Impact organization, making us one of the largest and most active chapters in the country. We are a group of 200+ MBA students seeking to create positive social and environmental impact through our careers. Our club plays a vital role in students’ personal and professional development, preparing members to integrate sustainability into roles across all sectors and stakeholder groups.
