The Online Classroom

Let's face it, the world wide web isn't the cold, technologically challenged landscape that it used to be when online degree programs first became available decades ago. Times have changed and so have the tools we use to communicate, complete tasks, and stay connected to news and information. It’s with this cutting-edge spirit that the UNC MAC’s online format was born.

An online classroom that breaks the mold.

The online format is delivered through a remarkable interface that encourages active conversation and engagement with the course content. You’ll watch lectures on your own, then show up to class ready to participate. There’s no back row here; students and professors work together “as equals" in a virtual environment that's as convenient as it is comfortable.

Innovative technology, unique delivery.

While the format may be different, the curriculum isn't. Online students will learn the same content as their on-campus counterparts, but will do so in an "environment" that's delivered entirely online via a sophisticated online interface. Interactive sessions are held via webcam, asynchronous lectures are delivered through a powerful media player, and communications take place via integrated messaging system.

See it for yourself.

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to experience our online classroom by signing up for a live, front-row session in an actual online class. It’s interactive, innovative, and engaging.

More than a mouthful.

In today’s business world, speaking to a colleague is only one of many forms of communication. Correctly and confidently using text, video, and social and content media are mandatory job skills. An online-format student will engage and develop skills with the numerous communication features of the UNC MAC online classroom on day one.
  • Maintain your class calendar, manage online groups, make a contact list -- get and stay organized through one easy to manage experience.
  • Chat via text or voice with the professor, a fellow classmate, or the entire group via live, streaming, state-of-the-art technology. In some cases, you’ll jump into breakout sessions with an even smaller group of classmates.
  • Class material, including PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and video, are communicated front and center.
  • Complete coursework in four easy steps: download, print, scan, and upload assignments through the Learning Management System.
  • Streaming webcam feed of every classmate and your professor. Someone at the front door or an important phone call coming in? Pause your cam feed, mute your audio and simply step away.
