Mission

Carolina Women in Business provides the women of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School with opportunities for career and personal development. Our mission is to create a welcoming community for Kenan-Flagler women to get the support, feedback, and resources they need to succeed both at UNC and in their post-MBA journeys.

Leadership Team

Leslie Morton - President

Leslie is a class of 2018 MBA student in Healthcare. She is a double Tar Heel, where she studied Chemistry before heading to the University of Colorado to get her Ph.D. in Biochemistry. Afterwards, she worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota doing research on liver disease in the Gastroenterology department. She will be interning at Pfizer this summer in Manhattan.

Sarah Scully - Executive Vice President

Sarah is focusing on renewable energy and real estate at Kenan-Flagler. Prior to business school she covered public companies and the Port of Houston for the Houston Chronicle. She is from Alexandria, VA and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2012 with a degree in Environmental Studies.

Tasha Mathew - VP of Finance

Tasha is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Corporate Finance and she is looking forward to joining the Investment Banking Division of BMO Capital Markets in New York this summer. In her free time, Tasha loves dancing, cooking, and traveling.

Jean Montano - VP of Communications

At Kenan-Flagler, Jean is concentrating in Marketing and Sustainable Enterprise, and is interested in civic entrepreneurship and the intersection of business and "doing good". Prior to b-school, she worked in the social enterprise space, in marketing and sales roles at two distinct tech start-ups focused on education. She received a BA in Political Science from Northwestern University.

Thu Pham- VP of Alumni and Corporate Relations

Thu is a dual MBA/MPP candidate at UNC Kenan-Flagler and Duke University. She has held many roles in the public sector, most notably as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans and organizer during the 2014 governor’s race in Texas. Prior to school, she also gained experiences working for an ed-tech startup and DC think tank. She holds bachelor degrees in journalism and government from the University of Texas at Austin.

Catie Venable - VP of Women's Initiatives/External Outreach

Catie is a North Carolina native and a lifelong Tar Heel fan. After studying French and History at the University of Richmond, she moved to Washington DC to work first for an international development NGO and then for a health care research and consulting firm. Catie is a dual degree student at UNC’s Gillings School of Public Health and also serves on the leadership team of the Consulting Club. When not working, Catie enjoys looking for her next excuse to travel and experiencing how much more fun Durham has gotten since she grew up there.

Ashely Wilson - VP of Women's Initiatives/External Outreach

Ashley is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Marketing. After receiving her B.S. in Marketing from Penn State, she worked for several advertising agencies in New York and plans to pursue a career in brand management after business school.

Apoorva Agarwal - VP of Learning & Development

Apoorva is a class 2018 MBA student concentrating in Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurship. Prior to business school, she worked at Deloitte in their security pricing and business valuation practice. She has also completed all 3 levels of the CFA program. This summer she is headed to Evercore Partners in New York as an investment banking associate.

Priyanka Misra - VP of Conference Planning

Priyanka is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Marketing. After receiving a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, she worked in Corporate Finance at Aetna.

Areti Moustakis - VP of Conference Planning

Areti is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate. Upon receiveing her B.S. in Finance from Manhattan College, she began her career at Morgan Stanley where she worked in a variety of finance roles across Wealth Management, Institutional Securities, and Banking. She will be interning at EDENS, a retail development firm in Atlanta, GA this summer.

Lola Yin - VP of Conference Planning

Lola is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurship. She is born and raised in China. Prior to business school, she worked as a management consultant in finance effectiveness. Also, Lola is an ultra-trail runner, a rock climber and a photographer.

Rebecca Benen - VP of Social Affairs & Networking Events

Rebecca Benen is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Marketing. She is originally from Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from Duke University in 2008 with a double major in English and Theater Studies. Rebecca spent the previous 5 years working in digital marketing in the Broadway theater industry and is pursuing a career in technology.

Michael Bickers - Manbassador

Michael is a class of 2018 MBA student concentrating in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.  He graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in R&D doing new product development prior to coming to Kenan-Flagler.  He will be interning at Dell this summer to pursue his professional interests in product management and technology.

Membership Benefits

Carolina Women in Business (CWIB) aims to further enhance each woman's business school experience by providing career-related and community-focused programming. Annually, the organization leverages its professional relationships with its corporate sponsors and alumnae to give current women the opportunity to network in a more intimate setting for internships and full-time jobs. The club also aims to foster solidarity among current women and alumnae.
