Carolina Women in Business (CWIB) provides the women of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School with opportunities for career and community development and networking opportunities in preparation for their post-MBA journeys.
Winnie Tran - President
Winnie is from Boston, MA and completed her undergraduate degree at Bentley College where she majored in Mathematical Sciences and Finance. Prior to business school, Winnie worked as a product manager for a web based alternative investment research platform at Cambridge Associates. She is passionate about bridging the gap between business solutions and leaving a social footprint in the world and is involved with the Social Startup Consultants and Non-profit Board Fellows program at KFBS. Upon graduation, Winnie will pursue a career in corporate strategy.
Ana Lopez - VP of Corporate Sponsorship
Ana Lopez is from Columbus, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia where she majored in Broadcast Journalism. Prior to pursuing her MBA, Ana worked as a television news reporter for NBC and in corporate communications for Nationwide Insurance and Towers Watson. At Kenan-Flagler, Ana is concentrating in Marketing and Consulting, and hopes to work in brand management for a consumer packaged goods company upon graduation.
Dorothy Fentress - VP of Corporate Sponsorship
Dorothy Fentress attended Haverford College where she majored in Math and French. She came to Kenan-Flagler after working in a NYC startup as a French Media Analyst. Dorothy is interested in improving KFBS women's opportunities in business, and hopes that she can achieve this goal as the VP of Corporate Sponsorship. She is concentrating on corporate finance and will be interning for Wells Fargo in Commercial Banking over the summer.
Maria Grimshaw - VP of Conference Planning
Maria has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Denison University and a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Prior to business school, Maria practiced law for four and half years in Columbus, Ohio at a small, general practice law firm and more recently at a large law firm. In 2011, she co-founded and managed a non-profit dog rescue in Columbus, which has adopted over 500 dogs into permanent homes. At Kenan-Flagler, Maria is concentrating in Management Consulting and Corporate Finance.
Alison Cary-Coleman - VP of Conference Planning
Prior to KFBS, Alison worked in international healthcare consultative sales, negotiating contracts with over 500 hospital executive teams in over 15 countries. She is pursuing a dual MBA/MHA at UNC and plans to return to the health industry in a traditional consulting role upon graduation. She currently works in the UNC Hospitals Department of Performance Improvement and has served as a big sister in the NC Big Brothers Big Sisters program for over 8 years. She earned her bachelors degree in Journalism & Mass Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008.
Laura Otten - VP of Conference Planning
Originally from Seattle, WA, Laura Otten graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish. She worked at Sound Mental Health and Duke University’s Center for Child and Family Policy before attending UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School for her MBA. Upon graduation, Laura will pursue a career in Marketing.
Lauren Cruz - VP of Communication
Lauren is originally from Bradenton, FL and attended the University of Central Florida for undergrad where she majored in Health Sciences. She opened and then operated a small business for 4 years before coming to Kenan-Flagler. At Kenan-Flagler, Lauren is studying Marketing and Entrepreneurship and is the VP of Hispanic Outreach for the Latin American Business Association.

Raowin attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Shanghai from Maritime University.
From founding member of Women Leadership Development in a Fortune 500 company (UPS), to Carolina Women, I’m always passionate about advocating women in business. Now as a VP of Finance for our Carolina Women in Business, I will ensure our financial independence as well. Go Tar Heel Women!
Emily is a Forte Fellow at Kenan-Flagler and is concentrating in Management Consulting, Corporate Finance, and Sustainable Enterprise. Emily received a BA from Georgetown University and worked in Washington, DC, in Congressional politics for five years prior to business school. Emily is passionate about women’s advancement in business, and she is excited to work with the women of the incoming Class of 2016.
Yuwen Li - VP of Learning & Development
Yuwen Li received BA in Public Administration at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prior to business school she was working at a global horse company based in UK. She helped the company with its entry strategy and marketing campaigns in China. She also gained experience in dealing with premium clients. Yuwen's career interest are marketing and investment management. She is also passionate about the career development for international students as well as women in business school.
Sharmishtha Goel - VP of Social Affairs
Sharmishtha is from Lucknow, India and has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science & Engineering. Prior to b-school she worked as a consultant to an agri-business firm in St Louis, MO and has industry experience in Telecomm. She is currently studying Marketing and Strategy and is a Non-Profit Board Fellow and VP of Corporate Relations for the Emerging Markets Club.
Ellie Nave - VP of Social Affairs
Ellie grew up in Bedford, New York. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in the Business Institutions Program. After graduation Ellie worked in advertising for 5 years, most recently as a digital media manager focused on luxury retail e-commerce. At Kenan-Flagler she is studying Investment Management and Entrepreneurship and serves as a Dean's Fellow, Legacy Representative, and Non-Profit Board Fellow.
Emilia Ndely - VP of Community Development
Emilia Ndely is from Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a B.A. in Economics. She is a dual degree student simultaneously earning her Masters in Business Administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School and Masters in Healthcare Administration from the Gillings School of Global Public Health. At KFBS Emilia pursues interests in healthcare consulting and entrepreneurship, is a member of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, and serves as the President of the African Business Alliance..
Jessie Lunk - VP of Community Development
Jessie is excited to be on the CWIB team as a VP of Community Development! She is a double Tar Heel from Chapel Hill who spent the past few years working in the non-profit and pharmaceutical industries. Concentrating in Healthcare and Operations Management, she is interning this summer with the Business Process Excellence team at BlueCross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
Corinne Baker - VP of Women's Initiatives
Prior to attending UNC Corinne worked as a performing artist and arts marketer in Washington DC. She has a passion for entrepreneurial endeavors and is a Co-Founder of the DC community music series, The Back Porch. At UNC Corinne is a Legacy Representative and a Marketing Fellow. She is thrilled to be joining the leadership of CWIB and looks forward to a fantastic year.
Kari Leblanc - VP of Women's Initiatives
Kari grew up in Allendale, NJ, and received a Bachelor of Science in Science-Business from the University of Notre Dame. Before business school, she worked for JPMorgan in New York, where she was an operations associate in the corporate and investment bank. At Kenan-Flagler, Kari is concentrating in healthcare and marketing, and will be interning with Becton Dickinson in the Franklin Lakes, NJ office. In her spare time, Kari likes to read, jog, and showcase her skills as a trivia whiz.
Carolina Women in Business (CWIB) aims to further enhance each woman's business school experience by providing career-related and community-focused programming. Annually, the organization leverages its professional relationships with its corporate sponsors and alumnae to give current women the opportunity to network in a more intimate setting for internships and full-time jobs. The club also aims to foster solidarity among current women and alumnae.
