Tuition and Financial Aid

Financial Aid Overview

The following tuition, fees and living expenses are estimates to assist you with planning. Tuition and fees are finalized the summer before each fall term. The intensity of the MBA Program and the time commitment involved preclude part-time employment during your first year of study at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Estimated Student Budgets for Academic Year 2009-2010

Tuition and Fees
(Per Academic Year)
NC Residents Non NC residents
Tuition and mandatory fees1 $23,456 $43,980

1Tuition and fees are finalized in the summer before each fall term. This is the most current and up-to-date estimate available. This information is provided to assist students in planning and in no way implies the actual charges for the academic year. The University Cashier's Office will bill students for tuition and fees.

2A student's total financial aid (scholarships, fellowships, and all education loans) cannot be more than the estimated living expenses plus tuition and fees.

Living Expenses3 Per month Per academic year
Room (rent and utilities) $1,166 $10,500
Board (food) $380 $3,420
Travel $145 $1,306
Miscellaneous $300 $2,706
Books/supplies N/A $2,400
Laptop N/A $2,140

3Living expense estimates are based on reasonable cost of living for the Chapel Hill area. Students whose lifestyle choices exceed the reasonable cost of living amounts are responsible for covering those choices through other resources than financial aid.

Additional Costs
Other fees4 $750
Optional Health insurance5 $1,818

4Other fees include:
$360 orientation fees, which are billed through the University Cashier's Office and are reflected on the fall bill for tuition and fees.
$390 MBA Student Association (MBASA) dues are paid directly to the MBASA during the first week of classes.

5The health insurance estimate is based on the UNC plan with Hill, Chesson, & Woody. This fee is not mandatory and not charged through the University. Students are responsible for enrolling in and paying for a health insurance plan, if they so choose.
