Father and son alumni celebrate centennial of family real estate company
Smedes York (MBA ’68) was a boy when his father, J. W. "Willie" York, opened Raleigh’s Cameron Village in 1949 as the first shopping center in the Southeast. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Smedes, then president of York Properties, repositioned the center to be more pedestrian-friendly and maintain a competitive edge.
