Jennifer Conrad is widely recognized for her research on investments and finance, with a focus on asset pricing, capital markets, institutional investing and portfolio management.

An award-winning instructor, Dr. Conrad has taught in the Undergraduate Business, MAC, MBA and PhD programs. Currently, she teaches an elective on derivatives.

She has won many research and service awards, including the Weatherspoon Award for Teaching Excellence in the MBA Program in 2004 and the Gerald Barrett Faculty Award,  which recognizes the faculty member who has made the greatest contribution to the MBA program through teaching and service in 2009.

Dr. Conrad served as interim dean from 2022 to 2023. She also served senior associate dean for academic affairs from 2011-2016, overseeing the work of the faculty and academic programs during the time when MBA@UNC and the Master of Accounting online format were launched. She received the Roy W. Holsten Exceptional Service Award, the School’s highest honor for leadership and service, in recognition of her contributions in that role.

She served two terms as area chair of finance, from 1995-1998 and 2000-2003. She has served on many University committees and, outside the University, in academic roles as editor, reviewer and committee member.

Dr. Conrad has served on the board of directors of the Financial Management Association, the Western Finance Association and the American Finance Association. She is past president of the Financial Management Association and former chair of its board of trustees.

She received her PhD and MBA in finance and economics from the University of Chicago and her BS in economics from Butler University.
