Eva Labro’s research and teaching interests in management accounting interface with economics, operations research, and purchasing and supply management. She is specifically interested in costing system design, and the provision of management accounting information for both decision making and performance measurement.
Before she joined UNC Kenan-Flagler, she was a reader (associate professor) at the London School of Economics.
Dr. Labro is an award-winning teacher and researcher. She received the 2013 Impact on Management Accounting Practice Award, the 2011 Notable Contributions to the Management Accounting Literature Award, the 2011 Impact on Management Accounting Practice Award, the 2007 Best Management Accounting paper award at the American Accounting Association conference and the 2006 London School of Economics Teaching Prize.
She has published extensively in top journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. She is a senior editor at Production and Operations Management (POM) for its new POM-Accounting Interface.
Her work has received research funding from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the United Kingdom and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) in the United States.
A Belgian national, she is fluent in Dutch/Flemish and English, and conversational in French and German, with notions of Italian and Danish.
She received her PhD from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. She also studied in Denmark and the U.K. She received a doctoral fellowship from the Intercollegiate Centre for Management Studies in Brussels. She obtained her masters in commercial and business economics engineering (summa cum laude), a degree in business engineering (cum laude) and a teaching qualification from the Catholic University of Leuven.
