Alpha Challenge

An overview of the Alpha Challenge. (2:47)

The Alpha Challenge is one of the world’s premier investment pitch competitions. Hosted annually by UNC Kenan-Flagler, this competition attracts teams of business students from leading global business schools to pitch their investment recommendation to an acclaimed group of buy-side investment professionals. The two-day event brings together over 50 top investment management firms for interviewing, networking and the competition.

On November 29 – December 1, 2023, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School will host the premier MBA event in the investment management industry for the 19th consecutive year.  The Alpha Challenge pits three-person teams from top MBA programs against one another in a competition focused on long equity and fixed income investment strategies. An internal competition determines the equity and fixed income teams representing UNC Kenan-Flagler. Each team is required to have at least two first-year students and one female student.

UNC Kenan-Flagler has a great track record at the event, winning in 2017, taking second and third positions in 2020, and finishing second in both equities and fixed income in 2021. In 2022, UNC Kenan-Flagler students had their most successful year taking first place in both equities and fixed income.
