Austin Helms (BSBA ’16) was born for business. He discovered his passion for entrepreneurship at an early age when he began selling his Halloween loot to friends and family.
In the years that followed, he developed a slew of small ventures – selling handmade bows and arrows, placing coin-operated gum ball machines in local businesses and detailing cars.
In high school, Helms set his sights on attending business school. When he learned about UNC Kenan-Flagler, he knew it was where he belonged – and he was right.
At Carolina, Helms co-founded Waterless Buddy’s, a waterless car wash service. The innovative concept – born in entrepreneurship class at UNC Kenan-Flagler – attracted local and national media attention.
Helms’ determination and drive also led to opportunities through Launch Chapel Hill and UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Adams Apprenticeship program.
