UNC wins 2017 Deloitte National Case Competition

The University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School won first place at the 2017 Deloitte National Case Competition.

The annual competition draws a field of highly competitive MBA teams from across the U.S. to compete in a bracket style tournament. Teams are pitted against each other to test their critical thinking, business knowledge and strategic problem-solving potential in a case simulation.

UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Luis Carrera, Brad Keller, Kelly Lynch and Kitt Wolfenden – all members of the MBA Class of 2018 – beat out “Final Four” teams from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School to win first place and a $20,000 prize.

The competition’s Sweet 16 bracket also included teams from:

  • Yale University, Yale School of Management
  • University of California at Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management
  • Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management
  • Duke University, Fuqua School of Business
  • University of Texas, McCombs School of Business
  • Carnegie Mellon University, Tepper School of Business
  • New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business
  • Columbia University, Columbia Business School
  • Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT Sloan School of Management
  • University of Chicago, Booth School of Business
  • Dartmouth College, Tuck School of Business

In addition to their win at Nationals, the UNC Kenan-Flagler team brought home first place at the annual UNC-Duke Deloitte Case Competition in December 2016, while another Tar Heel team took third.
