UNC Kenan-Flagler makes history – and beats Duke – with record Giving Day

Giving Day TotalThe UNC Kenan-Flagler community celebrated its second annual Giving Day on March 1, 2017 – one of the greatest days of giving in the history of the Business School.

This year’s Giving Day featured a points-based challenge against Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

The School raised $415,611 for UNC Kenan-Flagler and beat Duke by 467 points during the “BluevBlue Challenge.”

“Thanks to the more than 1,200 Tar Heels in 10 countries who made a gift to support our proud tradition of excellence in business education,” said Doug Shackelford (BSBA ’80), dean and Meade H. Willis Distinguished Professor of Taxation. “Together, we made history – and we beat Duke handily in terms of gifts and points!”

Events at the School and across the country brought out the UNC Kenan-Flagler community to support the School and cheer on their alma mater.

“With the help of donors and volunteers, we nearly doubled last year’s Giving Day donor total,” said Jeremy Allen, director of annual support at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “Every year, private gifts provide critical support to the School in the form of scholarships, fellowships, professorships and the many technological, facilities and program expenses that are not covered by tuition dollars.”
