KIND in word and deed

Along with the traditions of Alumni Weekend, we also have new highlights.

The first will be a fireside chat with Mike Barkley (MBA ’93), CEO of KIND Healthy Snacks. KIND created an entirely new healthy snacking category with the introduction of its fruit and nut bars in 2004. Today, it makes over 80 products – all of which have a nutrient-dense first ingredient, like whole nuts, whole grains or whole fruits.

As CEO, Barkley is focused on advancing KIND’s mission: creating a kinder and healthier world, one act and one snack at a time. He recently was elevated to CEO after joining the company as president and COO last fall.

He has an extensive track record of building and leading health and wellness companies. Most recently, he served as president of Boulder Brands, where he oversaw the growth and development of brands like Udi’s, EVOL and Gardein. He has held various marketing and general management leadership roles at Campbell’s and Johnson & Johnson. He began his career at Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, Inc.

After this session, we will continue to spread kindness through the Triangle community by participating in a service project. Bring your guests and get ready to make a positive impact in our community!

Capture memories – one time capsule at a time

Alumni Weekend cultivates a space to reflect on your time at the School with your classmates. This year we want to capture your memories and place them in a time capsule. This other highlight to the weekend will allow for you to continue to connect with members of your class. We will work with your class Alumni Connectors to collect memories from your time at the Business School and save it to open at your next reunion.

Get creative and bring something that will support your class time capsule. Here are some ideas of things you can bring to alumni weekend:

  • Photos (please identify the photos and date them)
  • Class Schedule
  • Shirts from old events
  • Letters to the future you
  • Letters to your class
  • Class book

Submit your letters here by April 9, 2020. If you can’t make it to Alumni Weekend, send your items – along with your name, degree and graduation year – to:

Cherie L. R. Michaud
UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School
300 Kenan Center Drive, Kenan Center 3440
Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27599-3440
