UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School has named Mary Moore Hamrick (MBA/JD ’87) as the new chair of its Alumni Council.
Hamrick is Grant Thornton LLP’s national managing principal of Public Policy. Based in Washington, D.C., she brings nearly 30 years of professional services experience to the Alumni Council.
She leads Grant Thornton’s public policy initiatives and is directly responsible for external and internal strategy and tactics. She liaises with members of Congress, accounting professional standard setters, regulators and other influencers. Hamrick and her team are trusted resources to the firm’s partners, clients and U.S. legislators.
“We feel fortunate to be able to name someone of Mary Moore’s considerable talent and vast experience as the Alumni Council chair,” said Douglas A. Shackelford, dean of UNC Kenan-Flagler. “She is the ideal candidate for the position; we are excited to have her take a more active role in shaping the School’s alumni efforts.”
Hamrick has been actively involved the School’s alumni program for many years. The Alumni Council is both an advisory and a working group allowing members to actively engage with and support UNC Kenan-Flagler and the broader community of almost 35,000 business graduates working in 50 states and 80 countries.
“I look forward to working with council members to further expand upon UNC Kenan-Flagler’s alumni relations and initiatives,” said Hamrick. “The education and love for life-long learning I received from UNC Kenan-Flagler has been invaluable and I’m pleased to be playing a more active role on the School’s Alumni Council.”
Alumni Council members represent the school’s portfolio of degree programs and they work in large and small companies in a variety of industries. They also act as an extension of the school within members’ cities, communities, workplaces and professional network – and serve on strategic committees.
