Bronto co-founders bootstrap their way to success

Bronto Software’s success story isn’t just an inspiration for entrepreneurs – it’s also a testament to the power of the UNC Kenan-Flagler network.

In 2015, co-founders Joe Colopy (MBA ’99) and Chaz Felix (MBA ’01) made headlines when they inked a deal for Bronto to be acquired by NetSuite Inc. for $200 million.

The dynamic duo’s journey to success began when they met at a UNC Kenan-Flagler event. Colopy had been invited to participate on an alumni panel. Felix, then a student in the full-time MBA program, was in the audience. They kept in touch after the event and, shortly thereafter, set out to bootstrap a business that would eventually become one of the Triangle’s greatest startup success stories.
