MD, PA, and NP Student Training
A team of experts on opioid use disorder at Duke, led by Dr. Lawrence Greenblatt, and Duke PA program educational technology specialist, Rachel Porter, PhD, have designed an online curriculum to train Duke students (PA, MD, NP) and community health care providers.
The online curriculum consists of three interactive learning modules (including post-test assessment) which assist learners in recognizing opioid use disorder, understanding its epidemiology and risk factors, knowing how to take steps to reduce the risk of individuals developing opioid use disorder, and once diagnosed, referring for treatment to include MAT or abstinence-based therapy. The material is consistent with national standards developed and published by SAMHSA4. Community providers may access the curriculum through the AHEC portal and will be eligible for continuing medical education (CME) credit upon completion.
If no courses are available, email the support team via the link found on the page.
MAHEC provides a variety of continuing professional development programs throughout the year to ensure healthcare professionals are up-to-date on best practices for supporting individuals with opioid and substance use disorders.
