Jason Doherty teaches courses in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, and works with a number of initiatives at the Entrepreneurship Center.

One of his areas of expertise is intellectual property-based technology commercialization, especially as it relates to innovations developed through the university research base.

He teaches courses on startup consulting and commercializing emerging technologies.

Dr. Doherty previously directed the technology commercialization team at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center in Louisiana, where he supported university spinouts and other technology startups in biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics, and other fields.

He serves on the board of two technology startups (pharma and agtech) and a non-profit. He also participates as a mentor/judge/coach and guest lecturer for local and regional entrepreneurial initiatives.

He received his PhD in cellular and molecular pathology from the UNC School of Medicine and his BSc in biological sciences from North Carolina State University.
