PhD Program Admissions

PhD Program Admissions

UNC Kenan-Flagler offers a full-time Ph.D. Program. We do not offer a part-time or online program. Our PhD Program is designed for individuals who have a strong commitment to careers in research and teaching. The Program provides an exceptional student experience, combining both professional and personal growth. Admission to Kenan-Flagler’s PhD Program is very competitive and a limited number of students are admitted each year, resulting in a high-quality learning environment that emphasizes rigor and individual attention.
We seek to admit 12-15 students, 2-3 per concentration area, to begin the Ph.D. program in August 2018.

Deadlines

Early Deadline: December 12, 2017
All admitted students receive school-based funding in the form of either Research or Teaching Assistantships. The Graduate School offers a limited number of University-sponsored fellowships to applicants who apply by the early deadline. For individuals who wish to be considered for this type of funding, completed applications must be received in December.

Final Deadline: January 9, 2018
All admitted students receive school-based funding in the form of either Research or Teaching Assistantships. To be considered for fall 2018 admissions, completed applications must be received by the final deadline in January.
