For All Kind: The Campaign for Carolina

The University of North Carolina launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign by a university in the history of the state on Oct. 6, 2017.

For All Kind: the Campaign for Carolina” is a bold effort to raise $4.25 billion by Dec. 31, 2022, to foster an innovation generation prepared to lead the world to a better future through research and scholarship.

UNC Kenan-Flagler is central to that vision. As part of the Campaign, the School aims to raise $400 million. To date, the School has raised $122.4 million thanks to the generosity of 9,042 donors.

“With UNC Kenan-Flagler’s proven track record of success, our future has never been as bright as it is right now – and our aspirations have never been higher,” said Douglas A. Shackelford (BSBA ’80), dean and Meade H. Willis Distinguished Professor of Taxation at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “Our goal is not just to solidify UNC Kenan-Flagler’s position in the top tier of business education, but to elevate it – to be the very best business school of the 21st century.”

The School’s Campaign for Carolina funding priorities are:

Innovative directions: Breaking new ground
The School seeks to prepare students for leadership in new, impactful ways. Venture funding will seed new ideas for the design and delivery of innovative learning experiences. The School will pioneer new approaches through technology to immerse students in real-world experiences and enrich interactive, personalized experiential learning.

Leadership: Shaping the future
At the core of the School’s success is the excellence of every individual at UNC Kenan-Flagler. To maintain this distinction, we will continue to hire and retain the best faculty and support them by rewarding breakthrough research and outstanding teaching. We want to continue to attract the best students across all degree programs through fellowships and scholarships, both merit- and need-based.

Centers of excellence: Creating productive partnerships
UNC Kenan-Flagler’s reputation for innovative business education extends to linking academic research and thought leadership to partners in private enterprise, government and nonprofit organizations and the UNC campus. Our Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and UNC Kenan-Flagler’s centers of excellence truly put academics into action.

Facilities: Growing not just bigger but better
UNC Kenan-Flagler seeks to make innovative business education more accessible to more students. To make this happen, we need to add a new, additional building. The goal is to expand the Undergraduate Business Program student population by 50 percent. We can accomplish this only with funds to build a new space and to upgrade all our facilities to use the latest technology to maximize access.

The Fund for UNC Kenan-Flagler: Making an immediate impact
