This GIE will focus on Native populations and environmental stewardship. Students will be able to learn and explore the traditional and contemporary ways of Australia’s and New Zealand’s Indigenous cultures with company and cultural visits.
Australia’s and New Zealand’s cultures continue to flourish in a changing world, and although our world changes, their values and traditions remain. This program will start in Sydney for the first half of the program and then travel to New Zealand for the second half.
On-the-ground learning from leaders in sustainable business, local and global nonprofits, and social enterprises equips students with an awareness of the social issues faced in a particular society and a working knowledge of how the organizations operate successfully in the community. While meeting with organizations pursuing philanthropic, humanitarian, or community-focused goals, students will dive deep into the practicalities of running an organization with these aims and the mission, opportunities, and challenges.
Students will also engage in a hands-on service-learning activity in New Zealand, actively working to better the community they visit while learning about the challenges unique to the area through a management discussion.
Dr. Larry Chavis, Clinical Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, will lead this immersion.
UBP students can schedule a meeting with the UBP Global Team to learn more about this and other Global Immersion Electives by clicking on the “Schedule Appointment” link below.
