Nonprofit Board Consultants

UNC Kenan-Flagler Full-time MBA Nonprofit Leadership

Nonprofit Board Consultants

The Nonprofit Board Consultants Program places UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA students on Nonprofit Boards of Directors as non-voting members. The program provides students exposure to high-level strategy and leadership experiences, the opportunity to interact with experienced mentors, the chance to serve the local community, and the training and tools necessary to serve on a Board post-graduation. Consultants work with the Board to develop and lead a project specific to the organizations' advancement. At the conclusion of the program, consultants will present their progress to organization leaders, peer consultants, and MBA staff members.

Examples of past projects include:

  • Strategic fundraising and marketing plans
  • Improved communication strategies both internally and externally
  • Potential merger analysis

The nonprofit organizations benefit from the program by gaining access to talented business leaders who offer new insights and have a wide range of business skills. Additionally, the program serves as a networking opportunity for organizations with future nonprofit leaders and helps organizations further their brand.

Some of our past nonprofit partners have included Habitat for Humanity, Super Cooper Red Wagon Foundation, United Way, Paws4Ever, Big Brothers Big Sisters, PORCH, Meals on Wheels, TABLE, Ronald McDonald House.
