Read our MAC mentee testimonials below to learn more about why they chose to join the MAC Mentorship program and what they gained during their time with us.
I joined MAC Mentorship Program in my freshman year because I was interested in Accounting and also wanted to make some friends who had the same passion as me. Through participating in different workshops and getting insights from guest speakers, I realized that Accounting is way more fun than I expected.
Accounting is the basic language of business. It plays an important role in business decision making and even in our everyday life. MAC Mentorship Program equipped me with professional knowledge and essential networking skills, which are crucial as I discover my future career.
Initially, I joined MAC because I was interested in pursuing a business career but wanted to have some hands-on experience in a professional environment to ensure it would be a good fit for me. Hearing the experiences of business professionals, stumbling my way through my first elevator pitches, and meeting fellow students who didn’t necessarily have it all “figured out” either were all priceless experiences within such an encouraging environment.
Undoubtedly, MAC has helped me to present myself more confidently in professional settings. Although I’ve learned that Accounting itself is not where my own strengths lie, I’m still coming back because of the skills, relationships, and incredible support that the MAC team has given me.
I joined the MAC mentorship program with an aim to gain more insights into the field from people who have more experience.
It turned out that MAC mentorship not only allowed me to learn more about the business world before officially entering Kenan-Flagler, but also allowed me to establish great relationship with both amazing mentors and peers who shares the same passion. Especially, the systematic training and hands-on work experiences I gain MAC 777 was extremely applicable and useful.
Before starting the program, I had only had minimal exposure to the accounting industry and I knew this would be a great way for me to gain new insights and learn more about a career in accounting.
I was also drawn to this particular program because of the mentorship aspect. Mentorship was something that I felt I had been lacking in my college experience and I knew this program would provide me with people I could look up to and go to for advice and would give me with opportunity to grow not only personally, but professionally as well.
