Global OneMBA Schedule

Convenient once-a-month classes

The UNC OneMBA class of 2020 begins with an orientation weekend in Chapel Hill during September 2018, followed by the first week-long global residency (U.S. residency). Your partner is invited Saturday evening through Sunday for special partner activities and social events.

Your UNC OneMBA class will be made up of 25-30 students from across the U.S. and Canada. During this first week, you’ll begin coursework, get to know your UNC study team and meet your globally-based OneMBA peers.

Beginning in October, once-a-month classes will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday classes start at 10:00 a.m., so most students fly or drive in Friday morning. Sunday classes end at 3 p.m., so you will travel home that evening. In addition to classes, most students spend 12 to 20 hours a week on individual study or team meetings.

Location and cohort experience

Students travel to Chapel Hill once per month for weekend class sessions that allow them to benefit from the in-person, shared experiential learning and networking opportunities our cohort-based executive MBA programs are valued for. Class sessions in Chapel Hill, NC are held at UNC's Rizzo Center, a facility specifically designed for executive residential education with state-of-the-art classrooms, multimedia technology and beautifully appointed hotel accommodations.

Four global residency weeks

As a OneMBA student, you won’t just learn about global business, you’ll experience it. Over the course of the 21-month program, students from each of the OneMBA partner schools come together for four week-long global residencies held on four continents, where you will visit developed and emerging economies. You will participate in global executive MBA classes taught by local professors, visit regional and multinational companies, and meet local business and government leaders.

A typical global residency schedule may look like:

  • U.S. (Fall): Chapel Hill and Washington, D.C.
  • Latin America (Spring): Mexico City and São Paulo
  • Asia (Fall): Xiamen and a city in an emerging country, such as India
  • Europe (Spring): Rotterdam and a city in an emerging country, such as Poland

Tailored curriculum to fit career goals
