UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

Investing in Kenan-Flagler

We gratefully acknowledge the generosity of 5,532 alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends, corporations, foundations and organizations who contributed to UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in fiscal year 2012. This number represents a 6 percent increase over our total number of donors last year. Out of 30,000 UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni, 26 percent made a gift to some school or unit at UNC including the business school and athletics, and 14 percent made a gift to Kenan-Flagler.

Together, these donors contributed $13,316,627 to UNC Kenan-Flagler in cash and future commitments—a 30 percent increase over last year. We raised $8,843,642 in cash—a 7.3 percent increase over last year—and saw a 15.3 percent increase in unrestricted gifts to our Annual Fund which totaled $2,108,402.

With the advent of our newly established donor recognition societies, we welcomed 203 new households to our Dean’s Circle, which honors donors who make annual contributions of $1,000 and above. We also welcomed 51 new households to the 1919 Society, which honors cumulative lifetime gifts of $100,000 and above, and 27 new households to the Dudley Carroll Society, which honors donors who document planned gifts to UNC Kenan-Flagler.

On another positive note, we grew our base of support with 987 new donors to the school. Many of these new donors were members of the graduating classes of 2012. We applaud the foresight of these students to be a part of their respective class campaigns and are proud to say that 64 percent of our undergraduate business, MAC and MBA students contributed $33,882 to UNC. Of this total, $29,035 directly benefitted UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Tuition and state support fund only 36 percent of our annual operating budget, and as state support continues to decline, we increasingly rely on private support. The cumulative power of many gifts—regardless of size—enables thousands of individuals to have an immediate and tangible impact on the business school.

Thank you for investing in the current and future success of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. We are better because of you.
