Investment banking, investment management, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurship are among the areas of expertise of Bill Moore.
He no longer teaches classes, but is active in advising Undergraduate Business and MBA students.
In 2014, he received the Alumni Association Leadership Award for exceptional achievement in a career field, personal endeavor or service to UNC Kenan-Flagler.
Professor Moore founded Trident Financial Corp., a national leader in community financial institution public offering, trading and M&A transactions. He served as CEO until its sale to KeyCorp in 1999. In 2002, he served as CEO of MCNC Research and Development Institute and led the highly successful restructuring and turnaround of the organization.
Professor Moore serves on the boards of RTI International (chairman 2011-17), Vietri, Inc. and Franklin Street Partners.
He has served on numerous non-profit and advisory boards including the National Humanities Center (emeritus trustee) and U.S. Naval Academy Athletic and Scholarship Foundation, Investment Committee and Capital Campaign Executive Committee.
At UNC he served as chairman of the Educational Foundation (Rams Club), UNC Kenan-Flagler Board of Advisors, Carolina Public Humanities advisory board (chair) and the initial chair of the UNC Press Advisory Board.
He received his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler, where he was the student association president and assistant coach of the men’s varsity tennis team. He received his BS from the U.S. Naval Academy.
