    The Opportunity:

    UNC Executive Development is embarking on a substantial growth strategy which includes growth in our digital portfolio. This portfolio is comprised of scalable, technology-enabled executive education solutions. These solutions may be customized to suit the needs and context of the client, embedded in a face-to-face custom executive education program, or used to target specific capabilities. We leverage our world-class faculty and content to drive impact. We have a partnership with Fortune magazine that provides access to a large library of exclusive Fortune interviews with CEOs and other world leaders.

    As such, we are seeking to hire experienced business development professionals to help drive this growth. The Director of Client Engagement position is focused on cultivating corporate relationships with potential revenue opportunities with our digital programs. Through strategic planning, relationship building, and the orchestration of key resources, the candidate will partner with senior and executive level decision makers and become a trusted advisor to these companies and partner with them to create innovative digital solutions that impact their business results. He or she will join a team that includes instructional designers, technology experts, and program managers.

    Success in the role requires strategic thinking, creativity, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and a record of quickly building credibility and trust with potential clients. An individual that thrives in a setting that rewards growth, values teamwork, and balances autonomy and accountability will be most successful.

    Specific responsibilities for the position include:

    • Develop and implement both short and long-term strategic plans for this targeted portfolio that achieve and surpass ambitious revenue goals.
    • Support the team in influencing the internal organization to accurately assess the business impact of innovations and advocate when appropriate.
    • Utilize key dashboard metrics to analyze results; in consultation with other Directors of Client Engagement, revise course of action to close deals, improve effectiveness, change course, etc.
    • Develop and manage accurate sales forecasts. Communicate forecasts regularly to management while consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
    • Represent the corporate market for digital solutions within UNC Executive Development through feedback on our products, solutions and services and suggest ideas for new subjects, products and services.
    • Report on competitive intelligence to product development and marketing groups.
    • Collaborate and develop new ways of working with the UNC Executive Development team to create comprehensive, integrated executive education experiences for leaders within some of the world’s leading brands.
    • Actively collaborate with other directors of Client Engagement and Directors of Design and Client Engagement teams to maximize the effectiveness of our global sales efforts.
    • Actively solicit RFPs and/or respond to unsolicited RFPs by developing proposals that accurately represent UNC Executive Development’s capabilities and meet the needs of the requesting organization. Work with program directors and faculty to develop proposed curriculum for each proposal.
    • Communicate effectively and credibly with clients, faculty, and staff on the appropriate design, development, and delivery of programs.
    • Intellectual capability to identify and share relevant research and trends in the market.
    • Ability to project a professional manner with self-assurance, conscientiousness, and confidence in dealing with others.
    • Develop collaborative working relationships with Kenan-Flagler and affiliate faculty members.

    The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Ability to work in and lead progress through ambiguous situations.
    • Possess strong sales, interpersonal skills, and dynamic executive presence.
    • Robust business, financial and strategic acumen.
    • History of creating and executing successful business development strategies and plans.
    • Record of exceeding revenue and growth goals.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to quickly build credibility and relationships with all levels of leaders.
    • Understanding of corporate and academic environments.
    • The ability to travel up to 40% of the time is required.

    Experience and Education:

    • Significant experience selling in the professional services, corporate education or related industries with demonstrated success in selling technology-enabled learning solutions to the executive level within large global corporations.
    • A master’s degree in business or a relevant field is preferred.

    The Opportunity:

    This position has day-to-day responsibility for all operational aspects of program management delivery of executive development programs that are delivered in Chapel Hill, NC, other locations within the US, and globally.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Directs operations for executive development programs. Develops operating procedures and policies for program delivery efforts. Leads efforts for continuous quality improvement through developing effective operating procedures designed for highest level of customer service for participating global organizations.
    • Manages team of program managers (approximately 12 direct reports) to maximize customer and participant experience.
    • Manages the day-to-day relationship and processes for Executive Development with external partner managing the Executive Development Conference Center. Partners with them to ensure the highest quality operations.
    • Develops processes for quality of all program materials to ensure materials are in formats consistent with the branding of Kenan-Flagler and UNC.
    • Oversees the management of all external vendor contracts including those for conference center and hotel facilities worldwide for off-site deliveries.
    • Manages various aspects of client contracts as well as contracts with external delivery partners.
    • Responsible for various business systems that support program delivery, client relationship management and program data and financials.
    • Establishes good working relationships with clients. Develops and maintains a highly professional executive development atmosphere and customer service level at all times with clients and individual executive participants.
    • Contributes ideas and feedback in strategic planning efforts. Keeps abreast of industry trends and competitor offerings.

    The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Strong customer focus.
    • Ability to develop new techniques, approaches and methods and to create innovative solutions.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines in a fast paced, high-visibility environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, efficiently and independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision, with the ability to make independent judgments and/or decisions and to discern when action of a higher level is required.
    • Proactive attitude, with the drive to initiate projects and new processes. Skill in organizing material, information, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with members of corporate and professional organizations, faculty and university constituents, and program participants from diverse backgrounds to promote executive development.
    • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and executive prospects and clients.
    • Strong proficiency using various hardware and software programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Salesforce, etc.
    • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and listening communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail.

    Experience and Education:

    • Five to seven years of experience in university administration, executive development or organizational development is strongly preferred. Operations management or project management in a related field will also be considered.
    • Managerial experience supervising multiple professional and support staff is required.
    • Experience managing and negotiating vendor contracts.
    • An undergraduate degree in business or a related field is required.
    • A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

  • + Program Director

    The Program Director position is a member of the senior leadership team responsible for building the brand and business.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The role is responsible for growing and managing a portfolio of clients including:

    • Business development
    • Needs assessment
    • Design of innovative leader development initiatives
    • Faculty selection and collaboration
    • ROI evaluation
    • Quality control
    • Contribution to the expansion of our network of external faculty and practitioners.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    We are seeking an individual with expertise in leader development or a related field, and experience creating leader development programs or initiatives in global organizations. Strong candidates will have a successful track record of client management (external or internal) and exceptional collaboration skills within a team environment. Ability to work with and influence business executives is essential.

    The ideal candidate will have excellent oral, written, and presentation skills as well as strong interpersonal skills for working with C-level executives, business school faculty, and senior HR and business professionals.

    Candidates must hold a degree in business, education, or a related field, and have a minimum of five years of experience working in executive development. Five to 10 years of business experience is also required. A master’s degree in business or a relevant field is preferred. The ability to travel up to 40% of the time is required.
