UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School recognized seven outstanding alumni at its 11th annual Alumni Association Awards ceremony Nov. 6.
Maurice J. Koury (BA 1949), president of Carolina Hosiery Mills, Inc, LLC, received the Business School Leadership Award, which recognizes an alumnus, alumna or friend of the school who demonstrates exceptional achievement in a career field, personal endeavor or service to UNC Kenan-Flagler. Koury resides in Burlington, NC.
Mick Hawk (MBA 1994), co-chief executive and president of Bonton a.s., received the Global Leadership Award, which honors an alumnus, alumna or friend of the school whose global participation and initiative advance the school’s education, research and public service mission. He resides in Prague, Czech Republic.
Henry M.T. Jones (MBA 1999), founding partner of Edge Capital Partners LLC, received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award, which honors an alumnus or alumna of the last decade who
demonstrates leadership in career accomplishments and exceptional commitment to the school. Jones resides in Atlanta.
Four distinguished alumni received Alumni Merit Awards, given from UNC Kenan-Flagler’s degree programs to alumni who personify the school’s tradition of excellence.
- William G. Seymour (BSBA 1964) received the BSBA Alumni Merit Award. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Primax Properties LLC and Primax Construction, Inc. Seymour resides in Charlotte.
- Donna J. Dean (MBA 1978) received the MBA Alumni Merit Award. She is the chief investment officer of the Rockefeller Foundation. Dean resides in Darien, CT.
- Ronald L. Martin (OneMBA 2004), vice president, Asia Pacific for Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions business, received the Executive MBA Merit Award. Martin resides in Singapore.
- R. Trent Gazzaway (BSBA 1990, MAC 1991) received the Master of Accounting Alumni Merit Award. He is national managing partner of audit services for Grant Thornton. Gazzaway resides in Huntersville, NC.
