Global Education Model

Global Education Initiative

Because every career is global

The Global Education Initiative is a groundbreaking and student-centered framework that gives you a competitive professional advantage – when you graduate and at every stage of your career.

Our approach to global business education is unlike any other. We created the Global Education Model®, a School-wide roadmap to a systematic and comprehensive global education for every UNC Kenan-Flagler student.

We defined four areas of business competency for you to succeed in the global economy: attitude, skills, knowledge and business practices. These are the competencies that firms look for in the people they hire and promote.

The Global Education Model

From orientation to graduation, through courses, workshops, VR simulations and programs on campus and abroad, our students advance the four global business competencies:

Global Attitudes

Our graduates recognize, exemplify, and demonstrate Attitudes – flexibility, openness, respectfulness, resiliency and introspection –conducive to positive global business interactions.

Global Skills

Our graduates identify, associate, and implement reflection, empathy, adaptability, collaboration and communication Skills in intercultural interactions.

Global Knowledge

Our graduates identify, explain, and demonstrate business, logistical, intercultural, and self-awareness Knowledge in global contexts.

Global Business Practices

Our graduates understand, analyze and apply Business Practices specific to at least one academic area based on your concentration or focus of study.

As a UNC Kenan-Flagler graduate, you will be ready to manage, lead and succeed in diverse and dynamic organizations, whether you’re based in the U.S. serving on a multicultural team at home, collaborating virtually with colleagues half way around the world or travelling to new markets.
