What did you find most challenging about the career services process?
“It was difficult to balance my schoolwork with the career services process. Sometimes there just weren't enough hours in the day, and I had to prioritize.”
How did you overcome interview anxiety?
“I practiced a lot and went into the interviews prepared.”
How much did fit play into your career search? What does fit mean to you?
“I think fit means how comfortable you are with a firm and the people who work there. Fit was a very important part of my career search because if I felt I fit with a firm, the interviews were easier.”
How you explain the recruiting process to a new admit?
- The recruiting process is intense but awesome
- There are so many firms that come on campus and want to hire UNC Kenan-Flagler grads
- It is a lot of information to take in in a relatively short amount of time
How important is it to prepare for the interviews?
“Preparation was vital to easing my nerves during interviews. Career Services provides so many resources for us, that there is really no excuse to not be prepared.”
Talk about office visits and what that process is like.
“Office visits can be stressful, but they are also exciting. By that point in the process, you have learned a lot about the firm and met many people who work there. The office visit is a chance to take all you have learned about a particular firm during the recruiting process and see it in action. It’s also an opportunity to meet even more people from the firm.”
What were your top reasons for choosing a firm or company for employment?
“The top reason was, honestly, the people. The firm that I am going to work for is the one that had the people I felt most comfortable around and could see myself working with.”
When you were an undergraduate could you have ever imagined the career possibilities?
“As an undergrad business major, accounting and the MAC program were not on my radar. I had no idea that there were so many interesting and exciting career paths for MAC program graduates.”
