Undergraduate Business 2012
Raleigh, North Carolina
"The UNC Kenan-Flagler network is unlike any other I’ve experienced."
“I spent the summer of 2011 in New York City working as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Global Industries Group. As a summer analyst I worked on pitch books for clients and used financial modeling to value companies. I greatly enjoyed the experience and strongly considered a career in investment banking after the internship.”
- Born in Atlanta, GA
- Raised in Raleigh, N.C.
“I will attend Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston Salem after graduation with the ultimate goal of combining my undergraduate degree with my law degree and practicing business law. While I enjoy finance and considered a career in investment banking, I’ve always aspired to attend law school.”
Why I chose UNC
“There is nothing I could ever want that Carolina doesn’t offer. Carolina has a beautiful campus, top-notch courses and professors, a plethora of social activities and on campus organizations and outstanding athletics. For me, UNC Kenan-Flagler’s being one of the best undergraduate business programs in the nation also helped make the decision.”
My experience of the BSBA program
- Courses provide a well-rounded foundation that can be applied in a multitude of business settings.
- I’ve had the opportunity to take courses that allowed me to manage live funds, learn from entrepreneurs like the founder of Top of the Hill, and create job packages with cover letters, resumes, and follow-up emails.
- In addition to opportunities in the classroom, the BSBA program hosts well-known speakers and sponsors events that I attend and enjoy. Through these events, I’ve been able to find out information about getting an MBA, working in various areas of business and even becoming a professor.
The UNC Kenan-Flagler Network
“The UNC Kenan-Flagler network is unlike any other I’ve experienced. There’s a large database filled with contacts that can help you land a job and provide career advice. When interviewing with companies for internships, I contacted UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni working for the company to get advice before the interview. Even as I was deciding where to attend law school I was able to find contacts within the Kenan-Flagler network who could help with the decision.
The Kenan-Flagler network also includes classmates who can help with understanding a concept or preparing for an interview. Before interviews I would also get in touch with current seniors who had the internship the previous summer. All UNC Kenan-Flagler students and alumni have one thing in common, their bond to the university and to the business program, which results in a family-like community that’s truly one of a kind.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to experience student organizations both at UNC Kenan-Flagler as well as on main campus. I’ve served as an officer for Carolina Women in Business for the past three years and was able to serve as president my senior year. I also serve on the board of directors of Carolina Student Legal Services and have held two leadership positions with Order of the Bell Tower. Getting involved in student life at UNC is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and learn about new opportunities.”
