Luca Barber

Luca Barber

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2017

Luca Barber is a class of 2017 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Luca will be spending his summer in Atlanta with MetLife Real Estate Investors, an institutional investment platform, working as a summer associate in the first mortgage and equity real estate divisions. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Luca spent 5 years working in the real estate industry in Washington, DC and the New York Tri-State area. Most recently, he served as an Associate with JLL’s Mid-Atlantic Multifamily Investment Sales team where he underwrote and analyzed over $3 billion in various multifamily dispositions including stabilized assets, pre-sales, development sites, conversions, and non-performing loans. His responsibilities also included managing the production of all marketing materials, financial analysis and market research required for investment sales opportunities across the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to this role, Luca worked for Roseland Property Company performing multifamily operations in the Tri-State area. Luca Graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.

Terence Bundy

Terence Bundy

Terence is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer at AEW Capital Management, a real estate investment management firm in Boston working as a summer associate within the Direct Investment Group. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Terence spent eight years working in the real estate industry in New York City. Most recently, he served as a Vice President in the Commercial Mortgage Loan Sale Trading division at Mission Capital Advisors where he completed nearly 3,000 asset underwriting valuations and managed over $15 billion in loan sale transactions. Prior to this role, Terence worked at Merrill Lynch and Deloitte & Touche as a Collateral Analyst in their Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities Securitization divisions where he assisted in the due diligence and closing of over 16 CMBS transactions. Terence graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.

John Duckett

John Duckett

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2016

John is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer at Admiral Capital Group, a real estate private equity firm in New York City working as an acquisitions associate. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, John spent three and a half years in the real estate industry working for TIAA-CREF’s Global Real Estate platform in Charlotte, NC. He served as an asset management analyst, covering the $6B+ AUM domestic retail portfolio. John was responsible for producing monthly retail portfolio reviews as well as developing annual business plans for the asset and portfolio management teams. He analyzed and modeled pending leasing deals and redevelopment projects, delivering valuation impact reports and investment recommendations. Additionally, John provided the retail acquisitions team with underwriting support. John graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Entrepreneurial Studies and Organizational Communication.

Darcy Fiscella

Darcy Fiscella

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2017

Darcy is a class of 2017 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Darcy spent four years in capital markets in New York. Most recently, Darcy was an Account Associate at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), where she serviced institutional corporate clients representing over $20 billion in defined benefit, defined contribution, and operating cash assets. Before joining PIMCO, Darcy was an Equities Sales Analyst at Barclays Capital. In this role, she supported relationships with prominent hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds ranging from $2 billion to $250 billion in assets under management. Darcy graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and concentrations in finance and accounting in 2011.

 

George Haywood

George Hayward

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2016

George is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer at USAA Real Estate Company, an institutional investment platform in San Antonio working as an acquisitions and capital markets associate. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, George spent 5 years working in the real estate industry in Washington, DC. Most recently, he served as a Development Analyst & Manager at The JBG Companies where he was responsible for nearly 1.5 million square feet of office and retail development. In this role, George oversaw budgets, entitlements, design, construction and project financings of more than $500 million. George has also underwritten nearly 2 million total square feet of asset acquisitions, development and dispositions. Prior to this role, George worked at the U.S. Green Building Council where he directed an affordable housing design and development program in the Broadmoor Neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. George graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Ben Kanne

Ben Kanne

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2016

Ben is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer in the Real Estate, Gaming, and Lodging Group within the Investment Banking Division of Bank of America Merrill Lynch and will be returning full-time upon graduation. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Ben worked as an Associate for Savills’ New York-based Real Estate Investment Banking Group where he underwrote over $3bn of commercial real estate transactions and executed $1.5bn worth of deals including development capitalizations, one-off asset sales, and portfolio recapitalizations. Prior to this role, Ben worked in the Finance Division of Forest City Ratner Companies where he conducted market research and financial analysis for numerous office, retail, and mixed-use development projects in New York City. Ben graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English Literature.

Logan King

Logan King is a class of 2017 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Logan spent three years working in the real estate industry in San Francisco, CA. Most recently, he served as Market Lead and Asset Manager at 643 Capital Management, a private real estate investment, operating, and management firm focused on debt and equity investments. There he managed acquisitions, renovations, and asset management of over $400 million in residential real estate across the country. Prior to this role, Logan worked at Brown Brothers Harriman in the Investor Relations division for institutional mutual funds. Logan graduated from Colby College with a Bachelors of Arts in History.

Dan Outen

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2016

Daniel is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Entrepreneurship. He spent his summer at Prudential Mortgage Capital in New York, NY as an Investment Associate. While there, Daniel managed the underwriting of portfolio CMBS and General Account debt across asset classes and domestic markets. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Daniel spent four years as a Senior Analyst and Development Manager for The JBG Companies in Washington, DC. With JBG, Daniel managed due diligence and acquisition, budgeting, entitlement, design, financing and construction of four mixed-use projects totaling over 1,200 apartments and 500,000 square feet of retail space. Daniel graduated from The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2010 with a focus in Finance.

Niket Patel

Niket is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance.  He spent his summer at Keystone Property Group, a real estate investment firm in Philadelphia, PA, where he worked as an Acquisitions and Portfolio Management Intern.  Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, he spent four years working in the real estate and accounting industries.  Most recently, Niket worked in the Investment Analysis group at InterContinental Hotels Group in Atlanta, GA.  At InterContinental, he was responsible for the underwriting and the market analysis of new hotel developments and conversions in gateway markets across the country.  Niket is a licensed CPA and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters of Accountancy and a BBA in Accounting.

Carter is a class of 2016 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer internship with Lingerfelt CommonWealth Partners, a real estate private equity firm with  $1B AUM, located in Richmond, VA. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Carter spent three years in the property & casualty insurance brokerage industry in New York City.  Most recently, Carter worked at Aon Risk Services on their middle market, mergers & acquisitions desk performing marketing and replacement cost analysis for private equity real estate portfolios. Carter graduated from Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a concentration in Spanish Language.

Brian Slaughter

Brian Slaughter

Brian is a class of 2017 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent his summer at Hines, an international real estate investment firm in Washington, DC as a Pre-MBA acquisitions intern. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Brian spent three years as an Assistant Project Manager for HITT Contracting in Baltimore, Washington DC, Charleston, and Denver. With HITT Contracting, Brian supported over 900,000 SF and $175M worth of tenant interior, healthcare, aviation, commercial office, and institutional projects in a project management role and $750M+ in a preconstruction role. Most recently, Brian was part of the team to launch HITT Contracting’s newest regional office in Denver, CO. Brian graduated from University of Virginia in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Business.

Sammy Stalcup

Sammy Stalcup

Sammy is a Class of 2016 MBA student at UNC Kenan-Flagler concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance, and he is the recipient of the Michaux Family Premier MBA Fellowship.  He spent his summer internship in the Investments group of National Real Estate Advisors, an institutional real estate investment manager with $7B of gross assets under management, located in Washington, DC.  Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Sammy spent four years as an architectural designer at the firm Gensler.  In that role, he was responsible for the design and construction coordination of over 800K square feet of commercial office space in the Washington, DC area.  Sammy graduated from University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.

Mason Tillett

Mason Tillett

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2017

Mason is a class of 2017 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Mason spent five years working as a commercial mortgage underwriter with Walker & Dunlop. He spent four of those years at headquarters in Bethesda, MD before becoming an Assistant Vice President and transferring down to the Nashville office for the final year. Over the course of his tenure, he completed financing on over 3700 units at approximately $400M in valuation on a variety of asset types across the US. Most recently, he primarily underwrote transactions involving complex LIHTC equity for substantial rehabilitations and new construction projects. Mason graduated from Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Mathematics.

Kris Bennett

Kris Bennett

Associate, Undergraduate Business Program Class of 2016

Kris is a member of the Undergraduate Business Program class of 2016, with a Economics major and business minor. He spent the past two summers as an investment analyst with Eller Capital Partners underwriting over $150 million in multifamily assets. Prior to UNC, he spent 5 years as a residential broker and BPO specialist, valuing and managing the repair of 100+ residential homes. After graduation he plans to work full-time in the real estate industry.

Kenneth is a member of the Undergraduate Business Program class of 2016, concentrating in Real Estate and Finance with a minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). He spent his summer at Eastdil Secured, a real estate investment sales platform in Atlanta, Georgia working as a transaction analyst. He will to return to Eastdil Secured to assume a full-time position upon graduation.

Louis Stephens

Louis Stephens

Associate, Undergraduate Business Program Class of 2017

Louis is a member of the Undergraduate Business Program class of 2017, concentrating in Real Estate with minors in City and Regional Planning and History. Louis spent his past summer with Bell Partners, a private real estate company headquartered in Greensboro, NC. Bell specializes in the acquisition and management of high quality apartment communities across the country. While at school, Louis remains engaged in the local real estate market by assisting a private investor in leasing student housing.
