Jack Bierwirth

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Jack is a Class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent the Summer performing due diligence, market analysis, and financial analysis as an intern in the Capital Market Multi-Family group of Faison Enterprises, Inc in Charlotte, NC.  Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Jack spent four years working in construction management. Jack began his career as a field engineer with Forrester Construction in Washington, DC managing projects in hospitality.  Then, Jack worked as a project engineer with Plano-Coudon, LLC in Baltimore, MD managing non-profit, office, laboratory, and education projects ranging from $1M to $11M. Jack graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Adam Coleman

Adam Coleman

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2015

Adam is a class of 2015 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance.  Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Adam spent four years in the real estate finance industry.  Most recently, he served as a Senior Analyst in the Strategic Investments group at LaSalle Investment Management where he analyzed and underwrote potential acquisitions for two of their separate client accounts.  Prior to this role, Adam worked at General Growth Properties, Inc. as an Analyst in both the Capital Markets and Financial Services groups where he performed various property-level financial duties including refinancing, budgeting/forecasting, and development.  Adam graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

Barnes Connell

Barnes Connell

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Barnes is a class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Corporate Finance. He spent the summer in the Real Estate Group within the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and will return full-time after graduation. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Barnes served five years as an Army officer based in Germany holding the rank of Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain. Over the course of his military career, Barnes worked with four foreign militaries and participated in the planning and advisory of notable military operations including the European Missile Defense Shield and the defense of Israel. While serving in the capacity of platoon leader and Tactical Director, Barnes had the opportunity to directly manage 80 soldiers and direct all US Patriot missile operations in Europe. Barnes graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a BS in Law and a Systems Engineering track.

Rob Haywood

Rob Haywood

Rob is a Class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent the summer with Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. in Greensboro, NC evaluating growth opportunities and performing portfolio analysis. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Rob worked for eights years as a developer and broker in the Raleigh-Durham area at Borden Real Estate, a boutique commercial real estate firm. Rob started his career in development where he managed the entitlement and development process for several office and residential projects. Then, as a commercial broker, he worked with businesses, landlords, and investors in the process of selling and leasing office, industrial and retail properties, completing over 150 sale and lease transactions. Rob has also competed on the professional tennis circuit earning a world ranking. He graduated from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology

Keaton Hurt

Keaton Hurt

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2015

Keaton is a class of 2015 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance.  He will be spending his summer in the Real Estate Group within the Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse in New York City. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Keaton spent four years in the real estate industry.  Most recently, he served as an Analyst in the Asset Management group at Real Estate Capital Partners, LP where he managed portfolios of office, retail, industrial and multifamily properties across major markets nationwide.  Prior to this role, Keaton worked at Clark Construction Group as an Office Engineer in both the pre-construction and project management groups where he worked on new project bids and helped manage a $500M office development.  Keaton graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Patrick Lim

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Patrick is a Class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Last summer, he interned with Simon Property Group in financial planning & analysis, underwriting acquisitions, developments and special projects for the regional malls and community lifestyle centers platforms. After graduation, he will be joining Prudential Mortgage Capital Company in the national accounts originations group in San Francisco, CA. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Patrick gained five years of real estate experience as an entrepreneur in commercial real estate development and as a restaurant franchisee. He launched the venture from scratch, constructing five locations with $1.5M+ AUV. Additionally, he formed a construction management firm, specializing in ground-up restaurant pad sites and suburban office redevelopment. In addition, he served as the Executive Treasurer for the Sonic Drive-In Philadelphia DMA Co-op, directing an annual marketing budget of $1.2M+ on behalf of five franchise groups with 26 locations. Patrick graduated from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing.

Pritesh Patel

Pritesh Patel

Pritesh is a class of 2015 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler Business School, Pritesh spent six years working in real estate investment and consulting.  Most recently, Pritesh served as a Senior Transaction Real Estate Analyst at Ernst & Young, LLP, where he worked on real estate valuations for purchase price allocations, and managed investment analysis due diligence by performing site inspections, preparing financial cash flow models, and conducting market research.  Prior to Ernst & Young, Pritesh served as an Investment Analyst at Prudential Real Estate Investors where he analyzed and underwrote financial investment models in the acquisitions and developments group.  Previously, Pritesh began his career as an Analyst in the Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities business at JP Morgan Chase, underwrote and marketed CMBS asset loans to investors, rating agency representatives, and CMBS bond traders.  Pritesh graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Finance and a BBA in Real Estate.

Brian Purcell

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Brian is a Class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent the summer with USAA Real Estate Co. in San Antonio, TX, working in the firm’s Global Investors and Acquisitions groups. After graduation, he will return to USAA Real Estate Co. as a Director in the Portfolio Management group. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Brian gained six years of real estate industry experience working in brokerage, investment sales, consulting and retail development. Most recently, Brian served as a Vice President at Lincoln Harris, a regional development company headquartered in Charlotte, NC where he worked on retail development projects and select single-tenant brokerage accounts in the Southeast. Previously, Brian served as an Associate at Lincoln Harris handling transaction management and advisory services for one of the company’s largest corporate services clients. Brian began his real estate career at CB Richard Ellis in Charlotte, NC. After executing lease and sale transactions for shopping center owners and retail clients, he joined the Capital Markets group where he focused on the valuation and disposition of shopping center investments in the Southeast. Brian graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Spanish.

William Renner

Will Renner

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Will is a class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He spent the summer with the Real Estate group within the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Will spent six years working in real estate consulting, development and investment. Will began his career as an analyst at AECOM Economics, helping to determine the financial feasibility of real estate projects across multiple asset types and markets. Then, as a senior analyst at the Eagle Point Companies, he underwrote multifamily and commercial office acquisitions and served as project manager on a successful $15M multifamily redevelopment project. Most recently, Will worked within the capital transactions group at Boston Financial Investment Management where he executed 80+ property workouts, refinancings and dispositions across $400M of equity investments in multifamily housing. Will received a BA in Economics from McGill University and a MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Chinmay Shukla

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2014

Chinmay is a class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He worked with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging group in New York over the summer. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Chinmay spent six years in real estate development and investment. He started his career in real estate development with Damac Properties based in Dubai where he conducted real estate related research and monitored project progress. Subsequently, as a senior investment analyst at Dubai Properties Group (real estate arm of Dubai Holding) he was involved in project feasibility work across various asset classes and eventually rose to be manager in investment, planning and analysis. During his tenure at Dubai Holding he worked on a wide array of global real estate transactions including liquidating the equity stake in a multi-million dollar joint venture with the government of Morocco and executing a land sales transaction in Istanbul (Turkey). Chinmay received his BAS in Accounting from York University and has completed all exams for CPA certification. He is ARGUS Valuation-DCF certified and also completed level 1 of the CFA exam.

Robert Speir

Bobby Speir

Fund Manager, MBA Class of 2015

Bobby is a class of 2015 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Bobby spent six years working in real estate development and investment. Most recently, Bobby served as Director of US Real Estate for Krispy Kreme, where he managed new store development and asset management for Krispy Kreme’s domestic portfolio.  He began his tenure with Krispy Kreme as a Development Manager, handling site selection, due diligence, and construction management.  Prior to Krispy Kreme, Bobby worked for Burroughs & Chapin, Inc., a regional development and investment company headquartered in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he determined the financial feasibility of development projects across multiple asset types with the Chief Investment Officer.  Bobby graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Alex Spotswood

Alex Spotswood

Alex is a Class of 2014 MBA student concentrating in Real Estate and Corporate Finance. He interned with Allianz Real Estate of America working in their Portfolio Management, Loan Originations and Equity Acquisitions group. Prior to attending Kenan-Flagler, Alex spent four years in the financial services industry. Most recently he served as an Associate Investment Advisor for non-profit institutions in the Foundations and Endowments group at SunTrust Bank. In this role he was responsible for portfolio allocation and investment guidance for 15 clients with assets of $30 million. Prior to this role Alex worked as a Portfolio Analyst with SunTrust’s Institutional Investments group where he was responsible for monitoring investments, initiating trades and researching and presenting investment options for SunTrust’s clients. Previously he worked in the Complex Accounting group with Kroll Consulting where he assisted with compliance testing and pricing schedules for clients involved with government contracts. Alex graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Commerce with a duel focus in Finance and Marketing. He is Argus certified and has completed level 1 of the CFA exam.

Josh is a Class of 2015 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration concentrating in Real Estate and Entrepreneurship, with a minor in Religion. This past summer, he interned in Washington, DC for the 9th Congressional district of North Carolina. Prior to that experience, Josh worked with Pittenger Land Investments, a real estate investment group in Charlotte, NC. Josh continues to look for opportunities to gain meaningful exposure to real estate and plans to work in the industry full time upon graduation.

Tim is a class of 2014 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major concentrating in Finance with a second major in Economics. For the past two summers he interned in New York with SG Blocks, a green real estate and construction venture working in commercial, industrial, and residential building construction. Additionally, while studying abroad in The Netherlands in the fall of 2012, Tim focused his coursework on real estate investments and appraisal. Tim is looking forward to working in the real estate industry full time upon graduation.

Matt is a Class of 2014 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major concentrating in Real Estate and Finance with a minor in Music. This past summer he interned with Grubb Properties in Charlotte, NC, as a member of their investments team. Matt has taken courses related to real estate development and finance and is ARGUS Valuation-DCF certified. Additionally, he is president of the Undergraduate Real Estate Club at Kenan-Flagler. He continues to seek opportunities for real estate exposure and plans to work full time in the industry upon graduation.

David is a Class of 2015 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major concentrating in Real Estate and Finance with a minor in Spanish for the Professions. This past summer he interned with Multi Housing Advisors, a southeast based multi-family brokerage firm. Currently, David is an investment analyst at Eller Capital Partners, a multi-family investment firm. He plans to work in the real estate industry full time upon graduation.
