  • Academics

    Credit information for KFBS students

Kenan-Flagler students transfer 12-15 credit hours from Peking University, taking a combination of 2 and 3 credit hour courses. Undergraduate business majors have transferred business core and elective requirements.

Students may take all of their courses in English. Students with proficiency in Mandarin will have a greater selection of courses to choose from.

Courses taken at the Peking University Guanghua School of Management will transfer back to UNC Pass/Fail. Achieving a grade of 70 (out of 100) or above will transfer back to UNC as a pass course, which will not affect UNC GPA. Students who receive any grade under 70 will fail the course and an F grade will transfer back to UNC, which will affect their UNC GPA. Though transfer credit for this program is Pass/Fail, future employers and graduate schools will also look at the PKU transcript, so grades are important.

Students participating on this program will transfer back 2 or 3 UNC credits for every 2 or 3 credit course at PKU (transfer equivalency is 1=1), and are expected to take four to six courses at PKU during the semester. A student who earns a 70 or above in all courses will receive a total of 12-18 UNC credits for their semester abroad, depending on the number of credits taken at PKU.

This program also fulfills Experiential Education and you will earn 5 points towards the Kenan-Flagler Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative. Full-time enrollment on this program is defined as a minimum of 12 credit hours.
